Gift cards, especially from your employer or whatnot, are "free" money, right?

Because of this, gift card purchases aren't always subject to the same careful financial consideration as "real" money transactions.

I would like to see the knives you got with your "free" money. My latest is this:

The Camillus Swedge. 420 steel. Okay.

Titanium is "bonded" to the blade, somehow. Pffft. Sure, why not?

"Great for batoning"? I'll find out, at some point.

Why would I care at all?

'Cause I like 'em chunky.

What a strange knife ........

I like strange knives! I mean, not Richmade or Jagdkommando strange. Cleaver blades are interesting to me, and this has a strong resemblance to an old pattern called a "hacking knife": a strictly utilitarian tool which was intended for removing glaze around old windows, and other general-purpose tasks. It is, arguably, the original "sharpened pry bar".

My boss didn't get me a gift. Maybe it's because I'm the boss.

Then you can get yourself all the knives!

If I was given a gift card I'd use it on something I actually want and would get use out of
Unless this bunion scraper is something you genuinely wanted

A $15 Wally World gift card ain't the most negotiable currency.... Most of it is going straight to the Walton family, the rest is going to the People's Republic. I didn't want to get something I would have too much respect for.

This thing is going straight into the toolbox, to take it's chances with wallboard, insulation, and whatever else I may have to cut through.

And for what it's worth, I'm the guy who spent real money on this foreshortened monstrosity.

So my taste in knives is questionable, even at it's best.

Hacking knives are sure useful on a jobsite, and you don’t feel guilty about honing them with a side grinder. I usually chisel grind them from wornout planer blades (super hard stuff), and 90 the bevel across the tip as well.

Good score.

Honestly is very honorable

Not a recent story, but I received a gift card to Gander Outdoors for my birthday, I got a Benchmade Proper on sale, so I spent about 29.00 bucks after the card.
