I was thinking it might be nice to have a pair of scissors that was constructed with self defense in mind.
They need not look like it, just possess certain features:

Fingerloops that would be strong enough to use in an icepick grip.
Rounded back edges

You know what I mean? We dont' want it to look like a weapon, and they need to certainly function well as scissors, but they would serve very well as a stabbing weapon if need be, far more than your average pair of scissors..

Interesting idea. Finger loops would be symmmetrical? Any modification necessary to the blades? Thinner/pointier than normal? Overall length?

I've thought straight-bladed fingernail scissors would be pretty dangerous in a pinch.

This guy seems to have scissor defense down.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - An Amsterdam barber has been arrested for stabbing a client with scissors, the second such incident involving the barber, Dutch police said on Saturday.

The client was stabbed and seriously wounded after a fight broke out earlier this week at the barber's shop, police said.

The barber stabbed another client with scissors in 2000. The man later died of his wounds, although the barber was cleared of any charges after a court found he had acted in self-defense.

Police said they were holding the man, 42, and investigating whether attempted manslaughter charges should be brought against him.

that is interesting...
i was thinking the blades ought to have a diamond cross section (when closed) and a fairly sharp point. I bet Dan can think of ways to make them better if he puts his mind to it..

Sounds like a cool idea.

My concern is that I would have to forge them out...and I'm not forging anymore (injured thumb). :(
