I had an interesting moment

I put a zip-tie on the hole of my delica to use as a ghetto wave. I went to cut the tag end and reached for my delica--oh wait.

After standing there puzzled for a few seconds I drew my LST and severed the offending plastic.

Sometimes you just need 2 knives.

See, there really IS a legitimate reason to carry more than one knife!:D To do maintenance on the other one! I'll have to remember this one when arguing with my wife.

Neck knife, SAK, tactical folder, and current newest knife trying out for a place in the EDC rotation. :D

Anything else is optional, except in the kitchen, when a big slicer should be close at hand, and in the woods, when a fixed blade gets added to the mix.

If you count the second small knife in your SAK, i have 5 blades on my person.
SAK huntsman, spyderco delicaII, spyderco spot neckknife, spyderco military on the back.
Love that Kydex.

What? U don't like? It prolly works better than a real wave b/c it sticks out the side. It's a work knife, for using-note the acid spots.

I'm with my work knives like I am with me--I don't care how they look, I only care how they feel. I'll most likely drop it in the lake before the year is over anyhow.

I've been playing with this recently. Had been intending to for a while but having just bought a used Delica I thought I'd have a go:

Looks very tidy from this side, all smooth curves 'n' stuff.

Pics aren't great but you may be able to see the hazards of trying this yourself. It kept slipping and it left grazes on the surface very easily. I tried to clean it up with a brass brush, only succeeding in leaving a brass coloured sheen on that particular area
I may point out that as badly as I did it (first time with a Dremel lol), it is VERY effective. There are no rough edges to catch on clothing either. I am considering buying another Delica to do it to, taking a lot more care next time (am I stupid or what :D )

I have also done the 'zip-tie mod' to my SE Delica, but the tie seems to like to rotate slightly around the hole rendering it slightly less effective. The advantage is, as mentioned earlier, is that the tie can be moved to the side to catch more easily on the side of the pocket, and the re-saleability factor is not decreased as it would be with the Dremel mod. I don't buy to re-sell luckily.

One thing that caught me out a few times initially was keeping my fingers out of the way of the opening blade. I have a few parallel scars on my right ring finger as proof!

I waved my old Endura because I could... it had already suffered some damage already and anything I ground off just improved its appearance :D

I've been informed since that you really can't get a nice looking result unless you use a belt sander... makes sense.

I don't wish to appear especially stupid but what is the purpose of the mods shown here. I'm not saying there is any problem with it, I'm just curious why you do it, if theirs a practical purpose or it's just for the fun of it.

The purpose of that particular mod is to catch the hook on your pocket, opening the blade as you draw it out.

I've done that. I was fixing up a Delica for a friend, and I was going to trim some of the FRN that was roughed up. So the first thing I did was open the blade of the Delica, since it was the closest knife I had handy.

Another time, I wanted to try tighting the pivots on my Leatherman Wave (which has those #$%@ing tamper-proof screws), and picked up my Leatherman Wave to use the pliars to tighten them. Except that I only have one of them.

I think this shows intelligence rather than stupidity. We people know the value of a knife or multitool, so we always have the right tool for the job. Even if the right tool is the one we're trying to work on.
