I was gonna like the 0550 this much!

When the ZT 0550 came out I was a little interested in getting one but just never did. Seems like by the time I finally decided to drop some coin the 0560/0561 were coming out so the 0550 just stayed on my short list. The other day I noticed the 0550BLK on Kershawguy's site. I liked the clip and cutout better then the first type 0550 and the price was right so I placed an order.

Got the 0550 last week, (thank you Dave, great job as always) and am tickled to death. Everything is perfect. It's not as big as my 0560 but it's not too small either. Kind of a just right knife. Besides liking it so much I also had no idea it would kick my 0560 out of my pocket as fast as it did.

If you've been on the fence like I was for the 0550 I urge you to take advantage of the great deals Dave has particularly with this black/black model.

I know what you mean about the size being right. Plenty big for edc/work tasks but convenient carry size. I carry my 551 more often than my 560. I do wish that the 55x was made with the lighter platform of the 560. That would be a great size weight design.

When I reduced the size of my collection. I had to keep one of my ZT0551's. They are just so smooth.

It is an amazing knife. I don't really use my ZTs anymore, but the 0550 holds a special place in my heart. It got me out of an elevator. :D

I handled a 551 yesterday mine arrived to be honest I wasn't that impressed with it. I carry a 0350 or a 560 the 551 is way thicker and heavier than the other two I don't know if I could edc it. I love the look of the knife but it needs to go on a diet

I have two of them now and I love the size, weight and shape. From those perspectives it's almost perfect (2nd gen with deep carry clip). But I'll admit that both of them are nearly impossible to open one handed, which I find really irritating. One of them has been worked on a bit to try to loosen it up, but it's still a two hand process. Really looking forward to that 0566 that's coming out later this year - maybe that will fill the bill.

I'm sure it will. My 550 is very smooth and flies open. I actually prefer it to the 560, but I do miss the flipper. Enter the 566! Already on pre-order

Same here. Mine is almost as smooth as my 0560 and I have no problem flicking it open. I think a lot of it is technique as I can open my 0560 using the thumbstuds perfectly and just as fast as using the flipper. I'd say this 0550 is about the smoothest opening (manual, non flipper) frame lock I have.

Started with the BF Skyline, moved to a ZT350, and then settled on the ZT550.

I've got 2 (Gen 2), really like them, it's a tank.

The dimensions published by ZT on 0560 and the 0551 said that they weigh the same. My scales show the 0560 at 5.75oz and the 0551 5.85oz. 3grams isn't really noticeable. It is a bit thicker. I don't really notice the difference in my pocket. Both are too big for my EDC liking.

The 0550 has been growing on me as well. Just got a second from Dave and installed a brown frag scale. I'm quite pleased with this one. :)

1st or 2nd gen? That scale looks amazing!

It's a first generation. I prefer it because I don't like deep carry. I believe the scale fits a second generation, but the screw holes for the clip won't line up with the holes in the scale. Obviously that would be a problem if the clip were to be mounted on the G-10 side.

Hope so. Just need to keep working with it. And apologies to Badhammer for a bit of a thread jack. Not my intention. I really do like the 0550.
