I had to make a substitution- hope it's close enough.

I have never known my cousin to react to a knife, but she picked this out of a handful of new acquisitions, fingered the bail, and said she might have to get one.
I couldn't give it to her at the time, because I hadn't worked on it. Now that I've worked on it, it's twirling on a single pin with the pin ends stuck in the bolsters. It may get worse before it gets better.

A case tiny toothpick would have been good, but I can't find one with a lanyard bail. The bay was a possibility for a similar Colonial, but then I remembered this little Laguiole. Same length, similar shape, provision for a lanyard- everything but the white handles, and I think it's safe to say a better-built knife. Plenty of blade to be useful in the garden.

It should arrive today.

New pins is the plan. The pivot pin was steel and is hanging on like grim death. Pretty tiny to drive out, and I knocked a bolster off its liner in the attempt. Getting back to it is way down my list of chores.

That French Laguiole is really nice. One of those has been on my want list for a long time.
