I had to put myself in "Time Out"

Well, it was fun while it lasted. I realized that in the last year I have probably purchased close to 40 medium to higher end knives. I was into the one a week mode. I have to stop for a while. I have given myself "time out" until the Gator Cutlerly Show which I think is usually in January. I guess I'll just hang out here and live vicariously through your purchases until then.

Anyone else hit the wall yet?

To some extent. I've gotten so many good knives, the "need" for a high end is sated. I've dropped back to a trickle of Spydies and multitools. I now buy more from the sales forums than dealers. I also have a much better idea of the very few but very tempting knives I really, really want.

Esav the same is true for me. I now deal more and buy more in the for sale forums here and at the KF than anywhere near what I buy new.

I've tried to compromise with the wife to some extent to keep the peace and keep costs down also by buying a lot of Spydercos and trading a lot too.

I find myself in the selling more than I'm buying mode right now. I guess I want to get down to just a handful of knives that I actually use. I think I'm gonna lose this battle...:grumpy:

I've hit the wall recently after realizing I've spent lots on several different high end knives (Chris Reeve, Randall, Emerson, Benchmade, etc.) and seeing that I admire more than use the blades. For a fix, I'm limiting myself to cheaper goods (Byrds, CRKT, Gerber, Cold Steel) and those deals that are just too good to pass.

Must be hard to stick to such a commitment, I dont think I could do it. Oh btw, have you seen that new knife by (insert knife manufacturer here)? It's awesome, and the deal is just too appealing to ever dream of passing up! Just kidding. May you have more strength than the rest of us :)

Yes, I noticed a BM Skirmish with dark blue handle and black blade. If I resist buying 2 of them, I can afford not to buy another Sebenza. :p

I need a time out as well. Nearly $1500 in the past 2 months. I need to stop so I can buy a car.

I've cut way back this year as well. I'm tending more toward stuff that I know I will be using as part of my regular EDC rotation. I used to buy "because" and that was fun, but this year, I've been quite a bit more selective. Maybe it's just an evolutionary thing ;) If something is on sale that I want - bonus!! I'm also tending toward picking up and playing first - probably from buying a fair amount online and finding out later that it was larger or smaller or different than I envisioned or saw in the ad. Costs more for me this way, but no false expectations either :)

same here...

I've got some other expenses that are kinda creeping into the picture... my beloved '97 Thunderbird just hit 100,000 miles and my brakes are starting to wear. So I've decided that with my next paycheck, I'm going to invest in a good high quality slipjoint to EDC and maybe some diamond rods for my Sharpmaker and then no more knives until the end of the year.
