I think you are talking about 117 foldingDidn't BUCK make a knife with that handle shape back in the early days?
For the Coastal Guard or Navy.....
I thought there was a thread on it awhile back.....
Anyways, sorta reminds me of that.![]()

Guess during in 1940’s
I will soonMy understanding of the 117 is that Buck was buying WWII surplus knives and reblading them with a 'BUCK" blade.
Here is a knife image swiped from eBay typical of the type I think were used. This one happens to be a 1944 Camillus. The blade reminds me of the 315 Yachtsman. I thought they were "life raft" knifes but a quick search finds them refered to as "rope" knives. From memory Buck was replacing it with a drop point type blade.
Anyone have a picture of an actual Buck 117 to post?

out of country for 2 daysI will soon
There’s something very alluring about that knife. I’ve always liked that shape handle and blade. I’d be even more intrigued if it was a lock back but I really don’t care for a bale on it though.
Can’t believe the 117 was for $ 5 in 1949
