Ok, I like being prepared. I feel it's better to have something and not need it then to need something and not have it. Well, lately my EDC has been my Sideclip. I've been carrying it at work as well as around town. However, I might need to amend my edc policy. I work at Gatorland in Florida. I'm one of the gator wrestlers/animal handlers. We had a dead gator that we had to dispose of. Not a big one. About a four footer. Well, we had to put him in a container, but he didn't fit. He JUST BARELY didn't fit. Simple solution? Cut something off. Sounds morbid, yes, but it's what you do. However, in order to cut ANYTHING off, I'd need to not only get through the tough leathery skin, but also cut through a bone, whether it's the tail, or an appendige. We decided it was off with a leg. Unfortunately, all I had on me was my Sideclip. The knife was pretty much useless for the task at hand. I couldn't even penetrate the skin. One of our guys had a small, three inch tactical folder, with a partially serrated edge, and figured since it was all we had, that I was the most likely to make it work. I DID, and the leg came off, but man oh man did it take me a while to do with a tiny little serrated sawing edge to work with. I was upset because I'm usually the go to guy when it comes to things like this. My multitool is literally a legend at work, because anytime someone needs a tool, I miraculously produce one out of my tool. Well, I didn't have what I needed today. So, I guess I am going to continue to EDC my Blast, and use the Sidedclip on occasions when the Blast is just to large or obtrusive. I HATE being unprepared!!!

i carry a dedicated folder in addition to my multi-tool, the Leatherman blades are mostly backups

although, with a Charge or Wave, or even a Blast with the saw would have probably worked pretty well

It doesnt seem like any multi tool blade would be of help in that situation. I was thinking though that maybe adding a spyderco salt into your daily carry would allow you to still carry the sideclip. I have a PE pacific, and it is so light i forget i have it. Of course id reccomend a SE for you, since it seems like you get some serious cutting jobs  . The salt is also nice because it won't rust on you, and you can put it away soaking wet and covered in gator blood. . ., a phrase i never thought i'd type :p . Plus i would assume that you work in humid salty environments all day, so its a piece of equipment you dont really have to worry about.

BINGO!:) Maybe the SE Tasman Salt? I have one, and it is WONDERFUL as a back-up EDC folder to my multi-tool. Working around water and chlorine mean that most of my tools get pitted to some degree. Not so with the Salt line. That H-1 Steel is amazing stuff.

I'll throw in another recommendation for one of the Spyderco Salts. I've got two Pacific Salts and they are great for EDC.
