I HATE the Military

Stupid Military! I woke up this morning with the intention of carrying my Victorinox Camper and my Buck 110, I was feeling a little nostalgic. The 110 is a great knife and is complimented well by the tools on the camper. So I got my belt on and forgot to attach the 110. Oh well. Went outside to check how my repairs on my car were holding up and threw the camper in my pocket in case i had to tighten up the band clamps i used. All was fine so I came back in. I had every intention of carrying the 110, but somehow i found myself taking the camper out of my pocket and putting the Military in instead. My normal combinations if i think it will be a long day are my Military and my Salt 1 with my surge and the bit kit along with it, and a small streamlight microstream. If i'm going to be around a lot of people and don't want them to look at me menacingly i'll carry the caly3 in zdp/cf. But the military somehow always finds it's way into my pocket. It has even sometimes kicked out my custom fixed blade on hikes and fishing adventures. Sometimes i will carry a victorinox swisschamp alone or carry my victorinox camper with another folder like my benchmade griptilian, kershaw blur or caly 3. But more often than not, i reach for the military. What i'm trying to get at is, i have a ton of knives, and the military has pretty much booted them all out of my pocket for EDC. When people tell you the military is the perfect EDC, they aren't kidding!

The Military is an astounding knife. It's so light for its size and carries really well. I have found myself carrying my Military more often than not as well.

I got mine for christmas. When i grabbed the box, i thought they forgot the knife! In all seriousness. I'm used to holding a knife box and feeling some heft. In my hand initially it felt like a pocket sword with the weight of a feather. But as i used it more it grew into my hand. I also felt the need to disassemble, clean, lube and loctite the knife and haven't had to fiddle with it for the last almost 6 months i've owned/carried it. Only had to do one sharpening on it also (and i'm one of those who sharpens knives even when they don't need sharpening!). I can't say enough about it.

+2 It's been my carry for about 2 years now.. love it. Though I will say my new Para2 has recently had me put my Military aside. I'll always have a backup of each as they are pretty much the epitomy of what a knife should be.

The para2 can usually handle most tasks. But I grab the Military when I need a BIG knife.

I got the para2 before I got a military. I find the para2 to be the perfect sized knife. As 5.56 said, the military is great when you need a big knife, I find I don't need
a big knife that often so the para2 gets carried more often. Like every day often!

The Military is just too big for me and I have large hands. I'm also not a fan of liner locks. So the couple Sprint run models I own live in their box. Now the Para 2 is another story. It is the perfect size for me and only loses about 5/8" of blade length from the Military. It also has one of the strongest locks around which let's you easily flip the knife open and closed and keeps your fingers out of the blade path. The Para 2 is getting close to EDC perfection while the Military just doesn't do anything for ME.

I have big hands and love the Military.. it actually doesn't look big to me anymore, that is until my wife picks it up with her little hands. But I have been carrying the P2 b/c as others said, the P2 can do everything the Military can with a bit less reach. Plus it's not as threatening if for some reason you have to depoly it in public. Also, it feels better when I take long motorcycle rides, for some reason the Military is a tad long right where my leg/hip bends. Other than that, I love them both.

for EDC i generally take my para2. and like others i reach for my military when i want a large knife.

I'm going to add myself to the list of those who carry a Para 2 for EDC and reach for a Military when needing/wanting a larger knife. However, for work EDC, my Millie rides on my belt in a Vox sheath, as a 'backup' to my Para 2.
