There's one maker I always wanted a knife from, but I had a long absence from here and TOTALLY FREAKING FORGOT his name. :eek:

All I remember were some of his knives. Fixed blades, tactical style, but done very elegantly. This was a couple of years ago and I haven't seen anything mentioning him lately. I'd remember the name if I saw it.

Time to go dig through the archive, I think... :(

BAHAHAAH! Two minutes looking through my old posts and I find it. Neil Blackwood. Anyone know what he's up to these days? I want a Henchman so damn bad...
 
According to his website he isn't taking custom orders at this time.

Due to my current backlog and new models development, I'm no longer able to accept custom orders at this time.

I must also discontinue many of my older fixed blade models, as I'll be devoting almost 100% of my time to folders. I appreciate the enthusiasm and support you have provided me over years. Please stay tuned for the new stuff!!!

Yeah, his prices have always been up there. At the time I was hanging around here a lot there weren't many with a reputation as strong as his. And as we all know rep = MONEY!!

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :)
 
Check Benchmades site. Neil Blackwood has a number of collaborations. I also note a new mini-rukus. The original was too big for me, but now this mini version . . .hmmmm . . . .;)
 
He's had that 'not taking custom orders' message up forever. I emailed him probably around 4 years ago about one, and he wasn't taking any.

Recieved several Emails regarding this thread, thanks for the heads up.

For some reason, I couldn't get my old account here to work. It said my Email wasn't valid :confused: So I'm now known as FL Knifemaker :)
Anyway.........Just an update:



I'm still making knives! Not as many as I'd like to but.........

Rumors that I'm not making knives anymore couldn't be farther from the truth. Over the past year or so, I've spent a lot of time and money upgrading my shop with new equipment and major electrical wiring. These upgrades are allowing me to take my knives to another level. I've already developed a successful version of my Henchman fixed blade as a button lock folder. I also have several other interesting designs in the works. We are also in the process of updating the website. It's about 98% done, I'm the one holding up the last bit of work on it, having to write text :o

The downside............

My Mom has a condition very similar to Alzheimers. I'm the only family she has here in Florida. Keeping up with her care, doctors apointments and other logistics has, at times, become almost a full time job. To say it's put me off my game would be an understatement. Planing shop time, and keeping delivery promises, etc. has become impossible. Please keep an eye on the website for updates and the new website launch. As time permits I will post available knives for sale on my website but there won't be any in the very near future, probably none until after Blade '07. If I can provide any further info, please Email me at neil@blackwoodknives.com I'm finally back to where I can check my Email several times a day, I'd love to hear from you.
