I have a $100 promo code from Benchmade: 940-1, 808, 484-1, or ????

The Benchmade 110 I used for scuba diving rusted pretty badly despite proper care. Since the knife is discontinued and they couldn't replace it, Benchmade gave me a $100 promo code which I really appreciated. I long ago got a Spyderco Caspian Salt 2 to replace the 110 for diving so I thought I'd pick up one of the other Benchmades I've been eyeballing. I'm leaning strongly toward the 940-1 because I've never owned a 940. The aluminum-handled ones don't do much for me. I really want the 940-1501 but it's not available through Benchmade's website. Carbon fiber isn't typically my thing but I like it on the 940-1 and 484-1. I already have a standard 484. Either the 484-1 or 940-1 would basically be pieces for the collection and probably see no use. I like the looks of the 808 and it would probably see use.

So, any recommendations on which way I should go? There were a few others that briefly piqued my interest (Pagan, 903, 908) but not as strongly as the others.

have you seen the 484-1 in person? if not I suggest you do.

i have both 484 and the 484-1, the 484-1 is significantly upgraded from the 484 for me. If you carry your 484, you're likely to carry the 484-1 because it is lighter and S90V is much better than m390 IMHO.

I haven't seen any of these particular models in person. I don't carry my 484 but I've thought about it for use when I where a suit for work. I really don't mind carrying big, heavy knives though. My current EDC is a ZT 0550. It was actually in my suit pants today.

A 940-1 would not be a shabby first 940. Primo execution of a top shelf design. Get that and put it in your pocket.

1.) If you like the 484...you'll love the 484-1.

2.) I personally am not a fan of the 940 (the 484 is a much heartier knife).
But, most love the 940.
So, if you are just adding to your collection it would be a must just as the classic 710 would be.

3.) Now, if you are talking user....your speaking my language.
In that category the 808 can not be beat.
I have 2.
This is the most streamline, HULKED out, Axis lock knifes you're going to find.
Smaller and more pocket-able than it's (equal in build) brother the Adamas.
But, certainly beefier than any other Axis lock knife.

Get something new instead of a variation of something you already have. I would check out the new Crooked River.

Thanks guys; this is exactly why I asked about this. I almost prematurely pulled the trigger on something last night and I think I would have regretted it.

1.) If you like the 484...you'll love the 484-1.
I do like the 484 quite a bit and the 484-1 is a great looking upgrade, more so than the 940-1 in my opinion.

As silly as it may be, this is exactly why I'm considering the 940-1. I have a 710 (which is a great knife) and so many people sing the praises of the 940 and state that it's a must-have for a Benchmade collector that I feel like I should have one. I'd never even handled one until a few months ago when I ran across a green anodized version at a local store. The impression it left on me was very "meh", especially for what they cost. I've got a 950-1401 and 950BK-1401 that I like a lot more but I only handled the 940 for a few minutes. As much as I like green on my knives, I'm not usually fond of all metal handles either so I thought I might like the -1 a little more. I really like G10 though and love the look of the -1501. If that was available through Benchmade.com I wouldn't have even posted this most likely.

This sounds very appealing. How does its action compare to the 275? My 275's action is by far the smoothest Axis lock knife I've got and has the best combination of a freely moving blade and solid lockup. My 2750 is pretty darn good too.

You know, I didn't even look at Benchmade's new 2016 offerings. There are a few in there that look pretty cool. I fell hard for Zero Tolerance stuff last year and really like my frame lock and flippers from them so the Benchmade 928 looks great to me. I just checked out the Crooked River though. I LOVE orange on my knives and you may of have sold me on that one, especially the -2 with the wood scale. I've got to use the code by the end of March though.

That Crooked River would fit right in with my other 150XX Benchmades.

And of course, the spiffy 484.

They are very comparable/the same.
I own both knives and prefer the 808 for the reasons I mentioned earlier.
Rock solid EDC.

To be honest, I also love discounts but not every time I have possibility to buy things with discounts. But dude you won 't believe I had the same situation as you. Only instead of a diving shell,I bought books with a promo code for 50 dollars that I took on this site[spam removed] twice as cheap. In addition, the books from this store [spam removed] Because the book covers from that store are of high quality. And they now have a discount code for free shipping when buying from [spam removed] Therefore, I advise you to hurry while there is such a possibility.
