and the other day out of the blue she says to me, "Dad, I really love your Zero Tolerance". Ha! it really made me pause on how I am inadvertently making my kids into knife snobs....
Oh well, there's worse things!
Any of you have kids who have locked on to your knife tastes?
thx,

When my son was a similar age, he too loved my pocket knives and fishing equipment...He is 18 now and his girlfriend is all he cares about....lol...He did/does know the difference between the good and bad knives.....

You need to get her an 0780 when they come out!

I gave my daughter a rainbow chive when she was young, probably not quite that young but young enough that she did not get to keep it her possession. It doesn't surprise me that she likes what you do , because you are her first love and all other boys in her life will be judged based on what you teach her about fatherly love, no pressure , right ?

We're currently searching for my oldest son's blue Scallion right now - my youngest son still has his green one. They are 10 and 11 (I think we got them these Kershaws about 3-4 years ago). They've got SAKs, Kershaws and some Spydercos. I've yet to get them a Benchmade yet, but a set of mini-grips are probably next unless I get distracted with a larger-than-Scallion Kershaw (they've recently started eyeballing my Lahar, JYDII, Rake, and ZT0301). My 14 year old daughter has an orange Pack-Rat and a pink SAK - a pink Kershaw might be next for her.

My 6-year old son's favorite knife is my ZT 301. He calls it the "Army Knife". His 2nd favorite is the Blur. (He's a big AO fan.) Before he opens a knife, he always asks "Is this one gonna THWACK open?" I can't wait until he's old enough to get a knife of his own!

I know this story well! I have a 3yr old and she is the funniest person I know. I have been EDCing a Strider sng for the past 6 months and just recently picked up a ZT 0551 (from kershawguy I might add). It immediately kicks the sng out of my pocket! So when I get home the first thing she says is "daddy you got a new knife?" I could not stop laughing, mainly because the 0551 was clipped to my pocket, so she noticed I got a new knife just from the different pocket clip! It was a priceless moment I'll never forget!

That is a cool story, Thanks !

I have a 3 yr. old boy he loves to set in my lap and hold my knife (it is closed). He asked me the other day when will he be big enough to have a knife of is own. I let him hold it every time he ask and tell him he can only touch my knife when he sets in my lap.

One day I was working on the house and had my knife (closed) laying on the ground, I was watching him to see if he would pick it up he never did he came and told me "dad your knife, I cant touch it because I am not in your lap". While he was pointing at it.

Funny and precious stories. Down the road years from now these very knives that our kids know about now will be the ones we hand to them and they will have some fond memories......

My two sons try to slip off with every Kershaw or ZT knife that I own...they're not much interested in other brands.

Only problem is: Zachary is 37,and Isaiah is 34.
