I Have A Bushboot Question...

Some people focus more on some areas than others. Usually I am thinking as a stand-alone knife in a belt knife. and not so much the pairing or piggybacking of knives together. Because of this I tend to skip over the models with thinner steels, and focus on 5/32 or thicker. BUT today I was sitting here thinking about the machete paired with a lighter thinner knife...it was inspired by a scene from one of my favorite movies. Then I started wondering which model. I think of all the smaller knives, the Bushboot is the best to compliment the shape of the machete handle. I like the Bushboot a lot, I edc-ed one for a year or so before Lisa got it. I was thinking that since this knife is to be paired with a larger tool on at least a semi-permanent basis, that a thinner blade like 3/32 wouldn't be a problem. Between the two, I could fashion other tools for digging or prying and have all of my cutting needs met as well. My question is this, has anyone here ever even seen a 3/32 Bushboot in the Friday offereings? I've dug through several Friday posts, and through dealer's inventories as well, and 1/8 is the thinnest I have seen so far. Ideally I think I would like a Bushboot with SFT 3/32 with natural micarta to match the machete, but I am wondering if tapered 1/8 like the one here is as thin and light as it gets.

I saw a few come by in 3/32 in some older sale-threads, but those were all scandies. I wasn't really paying attention to other grinds though, so it's possible Andy did some convexed ones as well I guess. From what I could tell all of the first Bushboots were scandies?

My un-tappered eucalyptus burl Bushboot in 1/8 weighs only 106gram (3,73 ounce) though, or 162gram (5,7ounce) including a Rick Lowe pocket-sheath.

Yeah, I was affraid any 3/32 ones might be scandi, and not really what I am looking for. I know the weight isn't bad on the tapered 1/8 one here, less than 4oz with the African black wood, but I am thinking SFT will both look better with the full thickness tang of the machete, and save me the extra of the upcharge for the taper :)

I had one, convex 3/32" with Tuxedo handle and a mosaic. Purchased from sale thread here. It was sweet, but I ended up selling just like my other two Bushboots. Just not the pattern for me.

Are we one of the few that have eucalyptus burl handles Mist? Doesn't seem like it gets used often from the knives i've seen. Would be nice to have a matching Nessie or KEB/Bushfinger.

Ya know, the Tuxedo wouldn't have been bad really, it would have had a yin / yang thing going on :)

Yeah, Andy doesn't use a lot of the Eucalyptus, and it is gorgeous. Having to part with my Eucalyptus Kephart last winter is one of the really angering points of that whole situation. The only consolations are that I know it went to a great home, and I later landed a tapered 3/16 kephart which in all honesty is better for me...

Nothing looks "sexier" than the machete/karda combo. get native!

Ya know, I sat and stared at several kardas, and found myself wondering how that would do in the field. I mean, the machete would be doing all of the real heavy work, would just need the smaller knife for detailed work. A three-finger knife would probably handle that, and add less weight to the total package too.
