Long story short, i broke the tip off my BM 612 Leopard Cub.

So I am looking for a new knife.

I have the chance to purchase a BM 813. Its a nice looking knife. I am unfamiliar with the steel- Gin-1?

It appears to be in new shape, I didn't see any scratches or dings.

Its number is like 400 something of a 1000.

$75 a fair price?

No, it appears he is selling some of his collection to finance a larger purchase.

If I decide against it, I will contact you with names and numbers for you. Or I could buy it for you and we could do a trade or whatever.

Jump on it. It's a good price and GIN-1 is an older steel but a very good performer overall. Some of my older Spydercos with GIN-1 steel are my favorites.

Beat me to it, Slatts.
Spyderco used to use GIN-1 steel, a long time ago. As with any steel, some people like it and some are glad they stopped using it. Same can be said for 440C and 420 HC.

Ok, here is my question.

While doing a bit of research, I found a website that is selling the 813 with a satin blade in GIN-1 (not the stone wash look in GIN-1 of the one I found) and I am pretty sure it wasnt a serial numbered knife for $59.

Is it maybe an old listing for a knife that cant be purchased today?

I am a little leary about carrying a knife that is a collector item. Its going to get used and abused a little.

I still have it.

I dont know what to do with it. It has about 8years of use on it. Blade was in fine shape, but the handle shows a lot of wear from being in a pocket almost everyday.

I am considering trying to find a new blade. But I am not sure I want to go through the effort or expense just to put it back together.

I am also considering having someone reshape the blade some. It would be quite a bit shorter if the blade geometry is done right i am guessing.

I could sell it, dont know what kind of value it has. I would imagine it has some value to somebody.

Have any suggestions??
