Since I had my Achilles repaired I have been taking pain meds. :D. These meds keep me up all night because I itch like crazy. Being up all night watching TV and scratching I have fallen in love with that damn knife infomercial/shopping show. I know it's mostly "147 quality knives for only $29.99" garbage- there are a few ......"gems" :o.

I have NEVER been a fan of the traditional style knives, but this one really caught my eye-- It could be the percocet talking.

I am looking to buy one. Can you guys help me find something of quality along these lines... I believe this is a Steel Warrior Brand. I think it's beautiful. What other 'scout' knife brands should I consider before I buy?

The SAK knives are available in GREAT quantity and variety of blades. Kind of fun to look at their site. Lots of sites to look at their models. I have a few myself.
Give your credit card to your wife until you feel better again... :)

Thank God I haven't bought anything yet. I just like watching in between scratches.

Mono check out the rough rider brand. I own several and one is my daily pocket carry. The RR armor hide mini barlow lockback.

It's an import but of very solid user quality and better. They are good enough to use everyday, come blazing sharp and let's you test the waters of a traditional pattern. They have a scout k if as well.

An example of ff for RR. The barlow and trapper lock... Plus a Northwoods presidential that I just traded out for giggles. Could get 18 RR's for what that one originally sold for. I'm pretty smitten with RR, I think they are in the spirit of the originals... Quality, affordable, users!

First of all, it sounds like you are allergic to the Percocets as I am.
I took 'em the first night I mangled a finger & was itching like crazy.
That was back in 08 so I don't remember what the substitute was, but I didn't itch!
Talk to your Doc about a replacement and save yourself some misery man.

Case has a scout jr. thats pretty nice looking and the Vic Farmer is another good choice plus the Farmer has a saw as any good Vic should.;)

And don't buy knives off the TV!

Heal quick.

There's a video out there with some dude batoning soft wood with a farmer... Tough little knife...

The SAK version of that knife is the Pioneer. The style is commonly referred to as a "scout knife". You can find fine vintage knives such as this Kabar also.

I was gonna suggest a vintage option. If you go this rout, you can probably get carbon steel as well, for very little money. I think my ulster bsa cost me 10 or maybe 20.

Itching is a pretty normal reaction to morphine and opioids.
