I have a Date question?

I know this gets a lot of posts, and I'm sorry for bringing it up, but I've
tried a search and reading through posts, and now I'm "mystified"
As you all know I just got my first 110. I'm trying to learn as much as
I can about these, and Buck in general and now I have a question.
I don't find a Date mark anywhere on the blade of my 110? It's a clean
as can be. I see where Data sheet shows a left facing arrow for 2010.
Is it unusual to not have a date mark. I've looked using a 6X loupe but there is nothing but BUCK
110
USA

Am I missing something? Thanks for your help.
Regards Sonny

Can you post a picture of the knife? I think that would help alot. There were some recent 110's that made it out with out date stamps, but then again there are those that were made before the dots or date stamps.

I thought the one in that post was an old model though???
This one didn't even come with a box, it was one of the clamshell
varieties.
Regards Sonny

No, that was the point of the thread. The seller listed it as a 1973 because it was 3 lines BUCK
110
USA
with no date stamp which is consistent stamping with a 72-74 5th version, 3rd variation. But if you read some of the posts, you will see some arguments against that being possbile(number of rivots, sheath design, radius edges adn so forth)

Here is an actuall 3 liner and notice the difference in design.

The best place to look for this dating info is on the sticky-"revised 110/112 dating sheet" on the main forum page.

+1, I'm bummin cause I cant seem to open the photobucket link in Sonny's post for some reason to check it out.:(

I was thinkin of tryin to win the one on the other thread, since the guy was honest enough to change the listing to be accurate, so I could have one.

imafritz, it seems to take a while to open but it sure is a new knife. The brass is the newer design so the date stamp must have been missed on the blade. It is not a polished blade, just the regular one.

Thanks for the info. I've been doing so much reading about the 110's
and Bucks, I think I've got brain overload.
I'm not sure what is up with photobucket. When I posted in my original
thread about getting my first Buck, the picture posted fine. But tonight
I could not get the picture to load, on a link. It seems to be working now,
so here's the picture of the blade
Thanks again

IMA, Great photo of a 3 liner . Sonny, Thanks for the photo . Your 110 is not a early 3 liner like IMA's . The blade grind line is not correct for that era knife . If the photo showed the handle pins I could tell you without speculation . There were some models that made it out of the Buck plant without out a year date mark (110, 112 and some 500's) . This occured in Jan. 2008 . Yours could be one of those . No, other difference in the 110's in the remainder of 2008 . Some here have some of those models with no year mark . I even have a 112 . Right or wrong many of us here look at those models as collectable even a Limited Edition as there were not that many that made it out of the plant with that stamp . Of the 110's perhaps less than 500 . That hardware store may not move many 110's hence, your additional searching paid off . Congratulations . DM

Ya know, whether they are older or newer and with the various subtle changes throughout the years, when you see one new or in great conditon, you have to say to yourself....."dang thats a good lookin knife"

good clear pic Sunny

good post DM, you guys may also want to backtrack to the thread that Plum has listed above as Bill Keys chimed in with some interesting info.

Thank you David. Yeah, I'm positve it's probably one of those from 2008.
I'm sure Dicks just buys trucks full of knives, and this just happened to
be one of those and not a 2010. I Love it just the same. I'm going to
take some "Glamour" shots of it if the sun ever comes out here again:D
It really responds well to a little Flitz!!!!!!

Wow, I agree!!!!!! I have a hard time not staring at it when it's
out of the sheath. After all the knives i've bought, I never would have thought that one this inexpensive could give me so much pleasure. I think
it's Beauty is Awesome!!!!!
I'm going to take Nathan's advice and go visit Outlaw Cigars this weekend and see if I can find me another 110..these knives are just totally addicting.
Regards Sonny

Your welcome guys . Yes, they are handsome . IMA, I must admit your photos of the 3 liner caused me to admire it for sometime . Then I went and dug one of my 3 liners out . Darn, these are attractive models . I feel lucky to have them . DM
