I have several knives that I would like to donate to someone or an organization that would be able to use them. I have a few of them listed in my post under "trading knives" and it's been on there for a while w/ no response, so I figured why not let someone have them who maybe can not afford to spend the extra cash right now. I have a few Spyderco's w/ fully serrated blades that I would like to give to some type of Search/Rescue organization that could use them. They have all been pocket carried and used, but they are all in good shape ecept for a few. If anyone knows of someone, etc. please let me know. I will even pay shipping costs.
Thanks,
David

DW2016,

Do you have a Boy Scout troop nearby?...Maybe they'd be interested in your knives?

Buck has a very cool program that sends "vigorously used" knives to missionaries in South America for use as trade items and tools for the locals. Just an idea but maybe some religious organization could point you toward some missionaries who could use'em. If you have any luck I'd be interested in making a small donation myself.

I know it's a reach but it would be great if there was a news piece on this with a larger quantity of knives being donated to a group/organization who could distribute to rescue workers or missionaries like stated to show the non-knife people that knives are needed as tools and aren't used as weapons. Or maybe somebody could do a write up on it and send the story in to a national mag.

As stated above, local EMT, fire, and scouts are all good possibilities.

Very nice gesture! Uhhh, how about the Bruz R&D Charity, he'll take em off yer hands!

Why I love this community. Great gesture, sorry I can't think of any organization right now.

How about the Fruitbat Good Cause Charity (FGCC) And you may ask, "What's the cause"? Cause you proably have some that I don't!!!! LOL
Maybe you know someone about to be sent to Iraq/Afganistan that could use it. I think it would be good to know that your gift was helping the good ol USA. Just an idea.:)

I am the Aerospace Education Officer of the Civil Air Patrol squadron in Norman, OK. CAP flies 85% of the airborne search and rescue missions in the US. Most of my kids are carring Chinese POS's, because that's what they can afford. I assure you, your knives would find a good and useful home with our squadron.

I definitely cast a vote for a VOLUNTEER FF/EMS group. I know quite a few well trained, big hearted medics that are either carrying crap, or poking, and jabbing at everything with a pair of trauma shears, cuz they can't afford anything better.

I'm sure you have some Vollies in your state that could use the contribution. The perspective with the CAP is an interesting one too.

Damn cool thing for ya' to do, man.

I have been buying and collecting knives and leathermans from folks to give out to my soldiers and other soldiers when I hit the ground in Iraq. I was very surprised when I started checking as to how many soldiers did not have a good knife or leatherman. Almost all cited lack of funds as the problem. Let me know.

It is a nice gesture. My suggestion is to call your local Army or Marine recruiter, or perhaps your local national guard. Those boys are in the thick of it, and any and all help is appreciated.

Dave

Great ideas so far. You could also give the knives away on Bladeforums. Do a giveaway thread for each knife, and limit it to new collectors/people without a decent folder, or perhaps people involved in public service, military, etc. It would have to work on the honor system, but most folks at Bladeforums are pretty honest.
