I live in Los Angeles, and recently my Dad gave me a knife by H.J. Schneider out of Laguna CA from his collection which he is selling off. He told me to keep it or sell it, because I am starting a small company that I have put every nickel into and he knows I need the money. I'm a newbie.
The knife is absolutely beautiful and never used or sharpened and comes in a belt sheath with Schneider stamped into it. It's a fixed blade hunting type knife(the non blade edge is slightly rounded but kind of looks like a straightedge). The base of the blade has an ornate design inscription about 1 inch square and i believe the handle is antler. HJ Schneider's name is on the knife blade with #19 inscribed, too.
I want to do the best sale I can obviously in the shortest reasonable time frame. Do collectors check Ebay, is this site the place, do I pay my $50 and go for it, or is there somewhere I can take it to sell in LA? I saw a Schneider dagger for sale for $2500 but think this is alot prettier. ANY advice about where I should sell it and how much a numbered Schneider brings at market? Thanks, Tom
