Really, really nice looking blade. Make sure you wrap that in some classy leather.

That looks a beauty buddy, ya seem to be getting quite a bit of new steel recently eh !!!

ooohh... that thing looks great... love the thumb scallops too... looks like a solid user... i'm sure you're going to love it, Ray makes some fine knives..:) i'm also waiting on a knife from him.. one of the 2 Matthewdanger designed blades he posted recently..

Mike, it's sort of a tweaked version of the knife you're getting (mailed out today). I call it the "UnScandi" bushcrafter:D. Here's a picture of it's profile before I did the thumb scalloping. I forgot to do it until afterward.:o

I like this one! Perhaps one of these will wear the ironwood scales that I have been saving for a special occasion.

thanks for the heads up on the knife too... i'll let you know when it arrives...:)

Ray had his collaboration knife that I really liked the look of. He quoted me a price and a build time - I paypalled him directly.

He was right on time and budget and pm'd me pics of the first rough up. I reminded him about the thumb scallop and he knocked it out.

I asked him to drop the drop point a little more than the prototype, and he said he thought it would work well if he brought it in line with the handle pins - I agreed.

I asked him to make it to a thickness that I laid out for him, but I told him that I trusted him. It is just a smidge thinner than I laid out - but it is a wider handle profile than I am used to - so I am certain it will work.

He asked what kind of scales I wanted - and then mentioned that he had some cocobolo on hand. I love that wood - so I accepted. Little did I know he had such a great example cocobolo on hand.

Ray is very easy to work with and makes this knife at a great price. I have always been impressed with the machine like precision he puts into his knives and this knife appears to be no different.

Pitdog and Rockywolf,

You know what is humorous? I only have four bushcraft knives to my name right now. I got that Bernie Garland knife in - and sold two.

I will get those two ML knives in - and likely sell two.

I buy these knives pretty much as replacements to others knives (better quality - different look - what have you).

However, with Ray's knives - I have never owned one - have always wanted to - and wanted to support a great maker who frequents WSS. If it is not for me, I will put some pants on it and put it up for sale. In the mean time, Ray gets some money in his pocket to make more awesome knives and I get to handle something I have always admired. I love this board for having so many great makers.
