I am having a really hard time not buying the $36 speed bump with free shipping on amazon... to those of you that have both, is the difference enough to warrant owning both?

i LOVE my Needs Work... best EDC knife i've ever had

They're pretty different knives... Different locks, different handle materials, wickedly different blade shapes...

I dunno if you need both, but if you want both, Go for it! For 36$ you sure as heck can't go wrong, and from what I've heard you'll end up with a quality product.

Get it if you like the design, I got one and recently traded it, simply wasn't for me. But fit/finish was great, typical great Kershaw quality. The designs are worlds apart, and start with the blade shape. Locks, clips, scales (material and texture), and sizes are all different between the two. Really the only thing they share is the flipper, steel, and speed safe. I believe these differences warrant the speed bump purchase. ;)

And of course you NEED it, don't ask that question here, everyone will say yes :D

lol... well guys, i just bought one from amazon. $40 with next day shipping. I'll have it tuesday.

as much as i love my Needs Work, i think the Speed Bump will be better for me. It has a shape that will make it more useful if i ever have to do any skinning with it, and as an EDC blade, it's slightly thinner, but has a better shape for defense, and more cutting angles makes it a bit of a jack of all trades.

I am REALLY starting to regret joining this site. I now have about 15 bladed items that i would never have gotten had i not become a member here... my wallet is not amused :P

Your just getting started. :D Yes, you will really like the Bump.

T Schlotz, what is that knife in your Avatar? it looks like a Bump, but it says spyder on it...

Spyderco/Kershaw collaboration, the Spyker.

Also, the Speed/Spec/Offset Bumps and Mini-mojito are the only true ambidextrous Kershaws I think, having the stud lock. Besides lockbacks, that is.

I have a spec bump that I think is great. It's the only reason I haven't bought one of these yet.

No... you just need a G10 handled 'Needs Work' - like a different knife altogether.
