I have found a nice way to carry my backup capsule lighter...

...Turn it into jewelry!

The square one is a Chinese Lanyard Knot. The other is a sorta mutant cow hitch or lark's head.

Huh...kinda figured more people around here would think this was cool.

Oh well...

;)That is awesome, now you must make me one and send it out to the wild arid deserts of Cali so I can try it out!

I think it's pretty darn cool! I think I might steal your idea, if that's ok. That's a pretty ingenious way to make sure you've got fire on you at all times. My pockets can sometimes be extra-dimensional wormholes that transport money, knives, lighters, etc. to the unreachable place between my truck seat and the center console or deep into unexplored caverns of my couch.

This is really cool bro, I just missed it. I like the concept a lot and I really like the aesthetics of the knots.

I also have never seen a peanut lighter :o Got any in-use pics?

I think I'll have to try to make one of those. Hopefully I can get a Fox 40 and a Photon Micro on it, too.

I thought of using one like this before, but figured I'd forget it was there. :o

I would suggest having a break-away connector if you're going to wear paracord around your neck.

It's a waterproof, airtight lighter in a sturdy brass capsule.
It's zippo style, liquid fuel, cotton balls to soak it up, whick and flint wheel.
Unlike a zippo they hold fuel indefinitely without evaporating.

Very nice that Chinese lanyard knot has been eluding me have to give it another try.How many passes for the mutant Larkshead
Thanks

Yeh it's tricky. I think i have all the basic steps down. But somehow most of the ones I tie don't tighten up right...still working on it. There must be some little mistake I'm making... and not noticing...gotta follow along with the video again very carefully, that's how i got this one right.

Lol i had one that somehow neatly rotated it's lower half 180 degrees...so it's got 3 horizontal bars accross the front...I kept that one, looks cool and is probably impossible to reproduce.

Also yes. I swapped out the slip knot adjustment in the first pic for a breakaway.

Sure buddy.

Cool, thanks man, I'll have to look into these.

+10

That's why I never wear anything of value around my neck... if the cord is secure, it's a stangulation hazard. If it's a break-away, you stand the chance of losing what on it.

I think bead chain is the best compromise of safety and security for dangling things around the neck. (But bead chain sure doesn't look as nice as your handiwork....)

Stay sharp,

It's a cool idea - those peanut lighters would work well as a neck lighter. One good thing is that the lighter can be unscrewed from the top and used while the top part is still attached to the paracord around your neck.

The choking aspect is something that I really haven't thought that much about - I don't usually wear anything around my neck at all. I suppose that standard necklaces just aren't strong enough to do much damage before they break so it isn't an issue with jewellery. Obviously the paracord IS very strong and it would be possible to be strangled with it. Overall I think it is just easiest for me to stick with keeping my peanut lighter in my jeans coin pocket.

That's pretty sweet! I like the Chinese lanyard knot, though I've never managed to tie one to my satisfaction. Guess it's as good an excuse as any to practice! :D
