I have a problem

Excessive khukuri consumption has led to a depletion of available chopping medium. All suitable trees and limbs have been removed from my backyard. The only thing left to do is reduce the size of already cut limbs and hack up old posts and lumber.

The resulting brushpile is out of control.

Some of the offenders. Top to bottom. 21" Gelbu Special, 18" Balance, 16" AK, 18" WW2 and 18" villager Pen. The 16" AK is the newest and quite sharp. Almost took the tip of my ring finger completely off with it this morning. If it wasn't blessed it is now.

Looks like you've got enough to build a beaver lodge, ilbruche. Have you got a pond nearby?:D

Faithful????? FAITHFUL??????????

Sir, take thy foul words back lest I impale you!

thou must pray humbly for that which ye seeketh

i'm sure there's someone out there who has all but 3 of the known pen knives ;)

Please Lord above, patriarch of us all, grant upon your worthless servant the honor of caring for the elusive and exquisite 18 inch pen. I promise to love and care for it, oil it and repair all cracks which time might inflict upon it. I promise to keep it in the loving presence of the heavenly khukuris the loyal and talented kamis of Himalayan Imports create in your honor. To all of this I swear under penalty of being stripped of all my HI khukuris should I fail, and forever more be tormented by the tauntings of cheap mass-produced factory khukuris. Thank you Lord, and watch over all my compatriots at bladforums.com, especially Auntie Yangdu who humbles us with her love and findelity for the beautiful land and people of Nepal.

I admit that was eloquent, Hiram.

For your efforts, you may *look* at my 18" Pen Knife, which was sharpened by Pala personally. Of course it is Neem and white metal, two of my favorites.

The geometry of this rare model makes at a highly efficient cutting tool. It almost has nothing to do with the 12" PK, which is a unique and great variant, but lacks the real "whack" for larger jobs (mesay). The 18" PK is one of the best all-arounders, and is a kind of insider's secret.

All that's for you to know, as you've demonstrated diligence, done your homework, and practice sharkery with great devotion.

Mike ;)

I like the 18" pen. It's a horn handled villager I acquired in trade. The line you can see near the bolster (the additional line in front of the ring) is where the first owner sanded off a crack in the handle. I usually dislike horn handles and was going to give it a stacked leather handle. To my surprise the unpolished horn was very comfortable. The fittings are white metal and it has the thicker style buttcap. I can't be sure of the age but it does have the newer sun markings but no UB.

This is what it looked like when the previous owner got it.

You forgot to promise God that you'd USE the 18" pen...

Perhaps an arranged marriage between a 18" Pen and GRS would produce the Bonecutter model some of us would like to see...:jerkit:

"Please Lord above, patriarch of us all . . . "

I had Pepsi out the nose over that prayer - still laughing even now. HR - I sincerely hope your humility is rewarded . . . :D

thx - cpr

We do not "use" such heavenly gifts... we become one with them... and my prayer clearly covered becoming one with it... going so far as to delineate the care, reverence and penalties for failure to live up to my pledge.

Mmmmm. Becoming one with a Khukuri. Does that mean you duct tape it to your hand, or does that mean you become a kook, I mean, a khuk yourself?:D

Fearn the heathen

To the left or to the right? Never mind, we really don't want to go there while The Almighty is judging the purity of your prayer.

F, the newly washed heathen (had to wash off the cowboy cologne from work today)
