I sharpened my Vic Hiker on my SM at 30 degrees, then I stropped the edge on a peice of hardwood stick (I shaved the bark off of it and I rounded the corners to make it smooth like a dowel rod). I got it sharp enough to cut freestanding hair on my arm, a feat only before done with my BM 530! I never really strop any of my pocket knives, as it takes too much time and I don't want to mess up my scary sharp edge by cutting anything afterwards, it kind of takes the point out of carrying a knife if you don't want to use it, for me at least. It was an easy last step in sharpening my Hiker and made a very big improvement. Anyone else tried this? I have used leather, cardboard, stropping compound, paper, ect. and have had good results, but if was always too much of a pain to do to my edc knife, but the stick is so easy that I will probably use it every time. Just thought I would share my new found trick and I hope it helps others.
