Well I have now got my first real Khukri. (The Indian khukri shaped object doesn't count).Within minutes of getting it I was 'testing' it by doing some much needed 'pruning' in the garden - my friend's daughter said "you have the same look my Dad has when he uses his Khukri".:D
I was given the 15 inch Ang Khola for making a big boat towing kite for another forum member that I introduced to the HI site - who now is in the throes of HIKV. I don't think I shall fall victim to the dreaded HIKV... but I do think I need a Malla or a Chitlangi or maybe a Sirupati but most definitly a bigger Ang Khola ! I could never get most knives sharp for some reason - but with the Ang Khola no problem - shaving hair, slicing curls of paper - but I think I can get it much better and get it into the "cringe zone".
What a well balanced weapon - definitely going out on my next hunting trip for sure.A good friend of mine could have used it a few days ago when he went head to head with a 13 point Red Deer stag - finally got it with a normal hunting knife.A real messy drag down brawling hunting story that could have gone either way!
A huge thank you for N.Wallis for the gift of the Ang Khola!
A huge thank you to the Kamis of HI for their wonderful craft!
And a special 'thank you' to Yangdu !

Don't forget the WWII, BAS, Ganga Ram, assortment of smaller knives, something weird the kamis cooked up, and a hassiya.

Oh, and more bushes to prune! Enjoy.

You have the perfect khukuri for most tasks. (Although, I can't speak with any authority on Red Stag one-on-one combat.)

Please re-read the safety thread.

Experts will be able to say with some more certainty, but for chopping, an extremely fine edge may work to your detriment.

There certainly is a "wow" factor in your first H.I. Khukuri, isn't there?

Congrats, man! I was daignosed with HKIV yesterday, and have a feeling that I shall be "suffering" from it until it does me (or my wallet) in. :D I also happened to catch it from a 15" AK!

I like a surgical edge on my kardas and a moderately keen edge on my khuk's (sharp but not literally sharp enough to shave).

That seems to be the winning combination.

Kardas are great for gutting trout.

HIKV - is truly amazing.
I cannot not believe what has just happened!!!
My totally non-knive person wife has just gone TOTALLY GAGA over a HI
Kagas Katne. She is begging me - and I am not kidding - for me to get her one.N.Wallis's lovely wife - Allison - pulls the Kagas Katne out of her purse and my wife's eyes go like organ stops - "gimme gimme gimme".
Well now- I JUST have to be the gentleman now and... ( cue in the violins)...
and see that my darling gets her Kagas Katne...heh heh..plus a few other things for me...LOL ( cue in sound of evil laughter )...oh thank you thank you thank you thank you....
