I am Roger Linger. In the early to mid 2K I made and sold knives, heat treated for makers and was for that period of time active here on Shop Talk. Many here may remember.

I have arrived here now to help right a wrong of my involvement. Without detailing I will say that there came a time I became financially crippled. For some time from day to day I did not know which day it would be I would be living in a tent in the mountains for what ever duration.. I have spent the past several years regrouping and have.

There are people that paid deposits and such for a knife from me that consequently was never delivered. I am here now to attempt to have these customers contact me for a full refund of all funds they per-paid to me. I do have all paper records which includes the names and amounts per-paid by all that I did not satisfy and all those I did fulfill. I kept complete records because I knew the day would come I would make things right with you. It is time I do and I am now able to. Please respond via this thread if you are one or know of one that is still waiting on me. At a time back in the 2000's I did try to contact you by the phone number I had on record. This is not meant as an excuse but rather I wonder if the numbers had changed. Regardless I am here for you if you can see or hear of this thread.

So far I have heard nothing from any of those deserving. I wonder if it might help if a moderator could make my email address available via my avatar(?). I updated it here within my profile. It is currently valid/up to date. Also, a,moderator might suggest to me here other parts of this forum I could post to concerning this matter of full refund. Thank you and thanks all for encouragement you above have given.

I should be well remembered within the knife maker (shop talk) section of this forum. Spreed the word please. I don't know my way around this forum as well as I used to.

Suggestions:
1) If you want people to contact you, post your email so they can.
2) Contact them. Many may still be on Bladeforums. Use the custom search engine to find them

I made the old website address larger and more visible. is the old austen_long email still good, or is there a newer email?

Stacy you gave me a good idea.

Anyone can ask I contact them via email by leaving their email address here on this thread for me to respond to. Much can be settled amicably via this path. Any here remembering an individual or others that lost their deposit or full payment can help that person by speaking on their behalf should they not have posting privilege.

P.S. Stacy, the austen_long email address is not a direct connection or contact to me. Mr. Austen Long is the fellow that bought my copyrighted Rifle Stock Building and . . . website from me. Our agreement is he own the content to do as he wish but to always acknowledge my writing and creating all content regarding all I sold to him. He decided to remove my custom knife section. He bought that right and it is not disputed. Emailing him will not get you to me.

don't know if this is helpful or relevant but there's a thread from OCt 2005 here on BF that speaks about a WSK knife and you
That might be a start for you assuming that person is deserving

I will not open myself up to every nut case scam outfit looking for free money. I am the one liable to pay for honest claims. The claimants have nothing financially to loose to any scam or scammer because I STATE IN 'FACT' I WILL UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE require good faith money or any other form of good faith consideration before any refund I make to you, the true and deserving claimant. All the claimant needs to do is prove to me he ordered what I have recorded, the amount prepaid, the address from which and so forth to the extent of reasonable satisfaction. That is it. Full stop. I will periodically check this thread for claimants, probably once or twice a week to begin with and judge from there the period henceforth.

As moderator, I have to tell you that if you want people to reply to your request in this thread, then that is doing business. Yes, it is old business, but it is also advertising that you are open for business again. Your current registered user (free) membership level does not allow discussing sales/orders. A paid membership would allow messaging and/or PMs.

I commend you for wanting to make these old wrongs right again - but you have to give the claimants a way to contact you and do that business off this forum. Please post a way for them to contact you. I don't care if it is your Instagram page, email, phone number, mailing address, etc. but you can't do the details here.

Roger, why not start some "throw away" email address on any of the free services (there are many). Direct people there to contact you and there (per stacys comment) conduct the business of proving their legitimacy for a refund? If scammers start hitting it, just shut it down and state so here. That way your "personal" email remains safe.
 
To the previous two replies. I have tried creating a couple alternative email addresses (gmail and yahoo) so that I might be willing to post an alternate email address for reaching me directly. Both require me to have a mobile phone number for they to verify me. I do not nor will I have a mobile phone. Suggest one email service that allows for land line or current email verification and I will check it out. Tip: I did try using my land line number but in both cases it was denied. This assumption by these two email services and many entities that every one breathing has a little phone stuck in their back pocket is, I believe, an oversight.

I have made an honest effort here on BladeForums. At no time during this effort have I promoted or tried to promote any knife buisiness on my behalf. I do not make nor wish to make knives now or ever more. My posting of a YouTube link from a past customer was simply an effort to help remind depositors of who I am and that I am real and sincere in coming here for their benefit. Anyone wanting my remittance that deserves it can make a post here and we can take it from there. Any one that knows of such a person can post here and we can find a way to communicate. I am sincere in this effort to make it right. To date, since I have come forth I see nothing from any of those deserving people. With BladeForums willingness I will continue to periodically check back in hopes of a claimant response.

I have had a few elderly people who had the landline only issue. We used my cell number to register for things like vaccines, DMV, doctors appts., and other services where they want to text a confirmation link or info. In other cases, I just did the registrations on my email or cell phone.

Try getting an email address with the help of a friend. Use his/her cell number for the verification link. Once set up, change the contact number to your landline, or just leave the friend's number.
An alternate solution is to use a friend's email address. Have people put "Message for Rodger Linger" in the subject box.

I really understand your effort to clear out these old issues, but you have to find a way for it to be done off this sub-forum. See if any of the above things will work.
