A friend of mine may be passing soon and he wanted to share a moment with me and sell it together. So I wanted to get some information on this knife and the price and what would be the best possible way to sell it.

He has a collection of 5 and he said when he sold his other ones a long time ago it was worth 1,000. Now all i can find (not much) is the price of 400 if that.
Appreciate your inputs. Thank you

Welcome to the Buck forum.... your first post. As a newly registered member of this forum you've probably not read the rules here. It appears robgmn types faster than I do but as he said, non paying members may not request pricing and sales help. That requires a gold level membership. Watching for auctions on eBay would be your best bet. It is an attractive and desireable knife but not particularly rare as they appear on eBay regularly. You can search completed auctions to get an idea.

That said, it is a model 975 Dagger with slab stag handles. The blade etching was done by Aurum Etchings of Texas. It is one of 2,000 made for Historic Providence Mint. The knife commemorates the 100th anniversary of the surrender of Geronimo in 1883 as per the accompanying card. In my own mind the date of surrender is a little more confusing as he skipped the reservation several times and he surrendered for a final time in 1886. He spent the rest of his life as a guest of the US Army, his official status was as a prisoner of war until his death in 1909 at the age of 80. There was a second similar knife, the model 976. The 976 is rarer as only 250 were made for Sharper Image. It has the same gold etched blade but with a round stag handle instead of slab.

Thank you for the information. Although He didn't have the information card saying what kind of

What are you wanting... someone to tell you what they think it's worth, or to be able to list it for sale in the classifieds section?

I don't think either is worth it. You can research the value yourself for free. As to listing it for sale here, not worth it for a one time deal. My OWN opinion is that the people who play here are shrewder about values and you wouldn't be able to sell it here for an "eBay" price. eBay is really a much larger, and sometimes, less sophisticated market. Craigslist is free.

Thank you for your honest opinion. I really appreciate it. I'm not really good at selling things and so I tried taking a easy route, so thank you truly.

Unfortunately I agree with your opinion(At least when it comes to collectible/rare/custom Bucks). I still try to peruse this avenue of selling, but time and time again I am left with some disappointment. I would be shocked if I spend the time uploading the photos in the Bucket anymore in the future....Even at 10%+ in Fees I still have more money to spend on my collection at the end of the day when I sell via The big Auction site as opposed to here.....I wish I didn't have to sell anything ever:D:D........

Here is a photo of the 975 & 976 together. I wish I could find one of the DM/Ivory versions!
