I started a thread not too long ago about getting a Specwar with green handles only to be shot down
by the dealer after paying. A couple of members encouraged me to keep looking and I did. I wound up finding the same model, new, only with tan handles. It was from someone just selling it, not a dealer and it was $75.00 cheaper.

I wound up being the only bidder so the price remained low. Not too many people caught this one going by. I believe it has a lot to do with how the title is worded in an auction and the search terms people use most frequently. That little diddy should be remembered.

This Specwar is centered, smooth, and sharp as hell. I have been opening and closing it since yesterday and it is smoothing out nicely. I thought it was so small because I'm used to the Commanders but I can get into it now.

I picked this style of knife because I was looking for a 7 or an A-100 and then the Specwar popped up and changed my mind. I am wondering why the scales aren't jimped where the liner is jimped up by the pivot. Also, the thumb disk is a tad crooked toward the liner lock side but it's not too noticeable unless your looking for it.

Overall, I love it!

First model of Emerson I ever bought over 10 years ago. What you have is a "modern" version of the classic Specwar-A (stand offs VS backspacer). There is a lack of jimping due to the replication of the original production style/look. Mine is a black blade version with tan handles. Awesome knife!

And man, the Afghan Tan just makes the Emersons pop.
So duz the Jungle Green. And... the Christmas Red. :D

I figured the lack of jimping had something to do do with the fact that it was the newer version. I can almost see a mod/pimp justification there. Maybe not.

Nice one. I really like that handle shape, and went with the SOCFK-A myself.

From what I understand, the SOCFK and the Specwar are the same except for the wave being on the SOCFK. Believe me, I looked into that one too and I believe I should have one of those as well. I want the black blade version of this Specwar too. Like Raysters. All in good time.

All you have to do is hold that thing and open and close it a couple of times. Those scales and extra standoffs give it a very cool feel and a unique clunking sound when locking open that is strangely satisfying. Add to that the glimmering blade with the occasional red flash from it's own scales and you have something straight out of Merlin's lab. It's magical, man. Tis the season.

Yea, the handles are pretty similar with the difference in the thumb ramp above the pivot. The Specwar has a higher one over the SOCFK. If the Specwar was waved, the thumb ramp would obscure it when in the opened position.

Great find man!! Enjoy using your new knife!
It looks like it'll stick out of your pocket quite nicely with that clip. I'm not a fan of deep carry at all..
