I ordered my firewood late this year. The roads finally opened back up for heavy loads around here. They're posted during the thaw to prevent damage. So my wood was further delayed. Now the rush is on to get it split and dry for next winter. It's approximately six cord in this pile. I also have dropped about two cord around my property. I'll be splitting mostly with maul and axe.

Enjoy my friend. You do have your work cut out for ya, but its good work that you can appreciate.

Get a picaroon, or two, if you know what's good for you.

You are quite late in the year though. Before it is stacked it's late June and stoking begins September.

Still plenty time for it to dry if you split it small and stack it so that it gets air. My fireplace is small, hence my firewood is small. I've found that anything I get into the woodshed by early June is dry in time for burning season - late October around here.

Gotta do what you can when you can. Right now staying employed in a terrible job market is the priority. The wood will get done as always. Gotta log off now and go cut(day off).

Last winters wood. Around 11 cords, cut split and stacked. We sell it to off set property taxes for the farm.

Lots of help from a log splitter....Yep we cheat :)

you guys are killing me. just checked today, and it's still 5 more days before Forest Service fuel-wood gathering permits will be available. spring is the toughest time of year for me......the wait just kills me!

Our wood permits don't become available for sale till June first. It's looking as though we'll be lucky if we can get a few miles up the canyon by June first this year. Snow is melting really slow. Actually, I can't complain. The last 2 years, the snow melted fast causing floods and lots of damage in the valley. We gather Dead standing wood, cut it up into rounds, then split them at our leasure.

What's the rush?

By the way, looks like a good load!
