...in the sizes I'm looking for. I have a bunch (20' or so) of 1/4" X 2" bars 4 feet long for making swords out of but can't seem to find any 1/8" X 1" to make folding knives and such out of.

I have been cutting up and grinding down my 1/4" X 2" stuff but this is a bit tedious even for me. I only get about 2 or 3 hours a week to make blades and I'm really stuck on using 5160. Admiral doesn't list it in this size but I have to admit I have not called them to see if they can get me some....22' of it might be a bit much though.

Anybody got what I'm looking for and willing to trade some big stuff for some small? anybody know a supplier who will sell me small quantities of 5160 in 1/8" by 1"?

Thanks for the help guys!
Brian

Brian, look in the yellow pages for spring shops. I have the opposite problem. I can get all the small stuff I want but have to order the larger stock.

hey Peter - how small is the stuff you get from spring shops? i was thinking of poking around a spring shop but it might not be worth the trip (an hour's drive) if all they have is small stuff...

Call them first Mark. The stuff I get is almost always less than a foot. thickness ranges from 1/8 to 1/4 and the width is 3/4 to 2". Talk to whoever makes custom springs. They have ends all the time.

hows it going peter can you get a piece of 5160 that is 24inch long by 1.1/2 to 2inch wide by 1/8 thick and if you can what would you want for shipping and finders fee thanks.

I can get it Lee but I'd have to order 20 feet of it. Darn shipping costs more than the steel. Call Pacific steel and see if they have a cut they can send you. Sometimes people will pay for a full section but only have half of it shipped to cut shipping costs.

Thanks for the info peter just so i know what is the price on a 20foot piece of 5160 in the size i am looking for and what does shipping costs and will they cut it up or not.
