I have questions about my new Camillus knife....

I posted this thread somewhere else and they suggested that I post it here. I hired a new ranch hand a couple of months ago and he had no knife. I gave him an unused, unsharpened, and never carried Buck 307 from the 70s. When I serviced the knife and sharpened it, it got as sharp as a razor.

I bumped into a Camillus knife on Ebay that is an exact duplicate of my old Buck 307. Won the auction for $30.00. The Camillus arrived today and again, it is unused and unsharpened, just like it came out of the box. Historically I have used Henckels, Eye Brand, and lots and lots of Schrades here on the ranch. I will put the Camillus to work and see how it does.

Does anyone know anything about my Camillus? Like date of manufacture or the kind of stainless? I have read that Camillus had a working relationship with Buck, and as far as I know, they may have made the total knife. The tang says Camillus New York. I appreciate any information that you may provide and thanks.

As far as I know, it could be anywhere from the 70's till the plant closed in 2007.
Camillus mostly used 440A for its stainless.

Hi Agman,

Hey, keep us posted, please, on how you like that Camillus with the stainless blades as compared to the other brands you mentioned in your post.

Will do, henryhide. I'll put it on the stone tomorrow and then put it to work. It is really a beautiful knife.

Your welcome, I can't take credit for it though. All I did was save it in my photos for reasons like this. Glad I could help.
