This spring i was writing about my need to get into a better shape. Bouth geting lighter, run better and kuting if the unnesisarry sugar. To give myself a puch in the right direktion I involved a system that gives money to geting new knifes.
I,m on the way, Not to much weight yet but at least 4 kilos, but the running part is better and I dont have any problems wit running 10 km anymore and I also to the point I run the distance under un hour. The most successful part is not eating unnessisarry sugar witch I havent since mid may. The system has now provided me with 1200 sek witch is about 180 $. Facing the moosehunt I bought myself a EKA swede 88 curly birch lockback but I still have aprox 120 $ left and it grows eatch week.
Problem is I,m not used to consume knifes in a speed like this. I have a New EKA and the fantastic Utica kutmaster campknife Kamagong sent me and also a wenger standard issue I got before summer.
Its like not being hungry when newly eaten.
But I do know I would like a cv Case Swayback jack, some sort of jackknife like the Case texas jack in carbon and I have a desire for a small elegant backlock like a copperlock. And Im close to geting a peanut to. But its like a smörgåsbord....Wounderful but also a little to much if ones not hungry enough.

Good going, Bosse!

Maybe a reward of a new knife for every ten pounds you shed is a good goal to shoot for. The first ten is the easiest. After my kidney stone problems this summer, I changed my diet and dropped ten pounds in one month. Just cut the sugar and fats, cut way back on meat, and drank more water. Boom, ten pounds gone. JUst cut the sodas and it made a big difference.

Maybe if you set goal, like so many pounds equal one knife, it would set a nice pace. That Texas jack may be only a few pounds away. Yeah, a Texas jack in CV with amber bone.

I'll have to mention this to Karen. Maybe if I get another ten pounds off, I'll be rewared with a damascus peanut in stag?:D

Congratulations on good progress with your health!

I like the knives you've listed. And yes, having so many choices presents a different kind of challenge, yes?

The great thing is, you don't need to be in a hurry. Take your time, and enjoy comparing and thinking about the knives you can now afford to buy. :)

Way to go! Stay healthy!
And, get a light weight Case Caliber folder to reward yourself. :D

Congratulations on the healthy improvements, especially the endurance running. I cannot run because of knees (mild bone disease as a teenager), but bicycling is my getaway and exercise. Nothing quite like an hour or two out in the beautiful countryside!

Keep at it.

I think a lot of folks here are in that same boat. I too have been on my kick of getting back in "fighting-shape". True what the others said about the sugar and extra carbs in a diet. Cut those out, increase exercise, and the pounds come off easier. My congratulations to you so far! I always feel better when I'm lighter and hunting thru the woods.
As a reward maybe a nice traditional style neck knife?

Thank you for support and adwise.

It will probably take me a while to deside as the moosehunt starts tomorrow and that will give me other things to think about. In the meanwhile I hopefully will build a little more on the budget. I have changed my goals a little. The weight I was thinking was mabye little to low. Built on expektations from the early youth days. Probably having a little more mussles nowadays that I don want to leave so I now try 80 kg witch is 6 kg away.
I also did a revision about the running goals. I have accepted Im not as fast here in the middle of the life but still can go long distance so my goal is 20 km during 2 hours without killing myself.

And yes. I like the texas jack patter from Case but also the stockman that builds on the same frame. Ine more blade, same size simmular weight and almost same price. Theese days the swedish krona is good against yor dollar so this is teriffic times for me to reward myself.

A change in diet is also a must or that weight will come back on. I know.

As a guy that has yet to let myself become overweight I cannot comment on losing weight. I can comment on acheiving the same performance as earlier standards. It can take hard work, but I think doing something you enjoy helps. I am a cyclist. Anything from extreme technical mountain biking to relaxed cruises through the countryside and woods. I have found my mind works a lot better when I have plenty of excercize. That and I'm an endorphin junky.

Having done weight training and strength training on and off for years, I have found that strenghtening core muscles and especially the legs to be one of the best ways to knock off the bad weight. Legs have a lot of muscle and recovering muscle burns a lot of fat.

I wish you luck and I hope you continue to enjoy your routines. Hopefully none of it becomes too routine that its no longer interesting :)

Congratulations on your weight loss Bosse. I like your motivational technique of rewarding yourself with a knife. Have you considered buying one of the fine puukko blades made by your Finnish neighbors and making one of your own? I know you like to make things with your hands, a knife made this way would be doubly special. Jukka Hankala, Pekka Tuominen, Mikko Inkeroinen, and the Nylund brothers all make excellent blades.
