For 26 years (I'm 42) I have wanted a Jeep and when I say Jeep I mean a "JEEP". I bought a Cherokee in '95 and kept it for 5 years but it did nothing but act as a cruel reminder that although it said "Jeep" it was not a "JEEP". Well I recently took a position with our county school system which came with a fairly significant raise (Don't get excited it's still a human services gig so they never pay well but that's not why you do this kind of work any way) (sorry back to my point). My Wife and I were driving the other day and I passed a nice Wrangler (yes a JEEP) and said that I still wanted one. Her next words were "Then get it!". So this past Friday I traded in my Ford Ranger and got a 2005 Wrangler X/Rocky Mountain Edition. Along with the normal X level trim it also comes with:
* Color-keyed fender flares
* 15" Ravine aluminum wheels
* 30" x 9.5" Goodyear Wrangler OWL tires
* Dana 44 axle
* Fog lamps
* Unique center console accents
* Unique premium two-tone seat with embroidered Jeep logo
* AM/FM/CD with seven speakers
* Unique Rocky Mountain Edition decal
Here it is in my driveway (BTW, it's silver. I took the pic in a fairly bright afternoon light):
I realize Wranglers are owned by many, many people but it's still special to me. A friend said that I had gotten my "mid-life crisis" vehicle. I told them that it's not so much a crisis as a realization that if you want something you need to either get it or shut up. Well I won't be shutting up any time soon. Anybody up for a trip to the mountains?
