I'm starting to think I might should have ordered the 3. I mean I love the knife, but I think I would enjoy the shorter blade of the 3 much more.

I doubt this is possible, but it's worth a shot. Both of my 4s are in perfect unmolested condition, except the one I sharpened on the edge pro. Does ESEE entertain trades or no?


If so, awesome! I will probably trade them out. If not, then no big deal at all. I will use them and be happy.

the 3 just felt wrong to me - but I love my 4.
I'm also pretty happy with my izzy 2 -- happy enough I sold my 3, as it feels better in hand and fit the niche for small blade better with less overlap with the 4.

If you can find someone with a 3 that will let you handle it to help you decide, that would probably be a good thing.
 
its pure goodness. i think the handle is thinner on the 3, but otherwise the same. even if you can't trade one of your 4's you should pick up a 3.

I've got both and I know that the 3 works best for me. I feel it slices better due to it's thin profile. The thinner profile makes it great for food too. I guess the only thing my 4 does better than my 3, is baton wood. Otherwise, I do not see any advantages.
I personally don't baton with such a small knife as the ESEE-4 :p
And I also have found that the 3 can take on very tough tasks, just to laugh and ask for more.

I would keep your 4s and get a 3 anyways. No reason to get rid of one to get the other.

The 4 seems to be a perfect size too me however, have never had the 3 in hand. I guess it would depend on their intended use and you did not define that. You have to use one to really know what it can and cannot do and if it comes up short for what it will be used for the most. They do sell fast on the exchange, so you will not have any trouble moving them or doing a trade, I'm sure. :)
 
You could always sent jeff an email asking if you'd break the 4, you could get the 3 in return ;)
 
I'd buy a serrated 4 from you if it had a MB.....paypal....then you could use that to buy from a vendor who posts in this forum. I'll continue in the PM.

yea cut it in two with a torch .....They don't like the throwing guys in here..Much,,,,,,,,,,,.LOL,,,,,,;)
 
I also bought the 4 but wish I had gone with the 3 for carrying. I have grown to REALLY like the tan though which I didn't think I would like as much as I do.

Both of my 4s are plain edge. I don't like serrated knives. I just want two 3s instead of my 4s.
 
post an even trade on the exchange.
specify you're only interested in plain edge ESE/RC 3's.
