I haven't heard much talk about Elishewitz knives in a long time.

In the good while that I've been here, I've heard very little about Mr. Elishewitz's knives. I have a beautiful Neo that is smooth as can be, and awesome fit and finish, for what you get, Mr. Elishewitz produces actually at very low prices, I know some of this is because he uses CNC, or other high tech machine, but that doesn't stop them from being awesome knives.
Anyone?

Actually Allen stopped using CNC a year or two ago and does all work in house by hand now. He has also gotten into making some awesome watches and pens, check out his website.

yea, his watches look out of this word nice! What a talented dude!

He is not taking orders either I believe, just puting up some knives on his site, what he has at shows and what the dealers have.

Probably because Allen no longer spends times posting on the forums. Makers that hang out here generally get talked about more because they interact.

Besides being busy, I'm sure Allen was put off by some earlier exchanges on bladeforums. Just go back into some of the archive threads if you really want/need to find out just what was said.

From a collector's standpoint - Allen does indeed do really great work, I have had four of his knives. Unfortunately, they fare poorly on the secondary market for resale. I have never figured that one out. If you buy one, you should plan on keeping it.

He makes really top notch knives, his latest batch look really good. Definitely check out his website.

Allen is one talented maker as well as a giving person. Hard to beat his work or the value.

He designed some elegant knives for Benchmade -- the Ares and the Nimravus. He has a few in the CRKT line-up now. This may have freed him to pursue his more purely handmade work.

Any problems selling his knives on the secondary market probably do derive from him not being as widely known as makers more active on the forums. But I bet he does well selling anything he makes :)

His website http://www.elishewitzknives.com/ was just updated.

I met Allen at Plaza Cutlery a while back. Helluva nice guy, absulutley fantastic work. I been holding out for the right peice from him, I am a big fan of his e-lock knives.

For me it is a good example of my desire for a knife being increased by the fact that the maker is a really cool person. I mean his work is desireable enough as it is, but because he's such a freindly dood with a sense of humor it even cooler to support him. His watches are incredible. Totally my style and my kinda materils...damascus, ti, carbonfiber...not surprisingly the ingredients of knives.

Other makers who will get more of my business than usual because they are cool people are Barry Dawson (and his fam) and Trace Rinaldi who I had the pleasure of meeting at the last show I went to. Talented and skilled craftsman and great people to boot. :D

Here... I'll drink this beer to Allen and all the other great guys who happen to be excellent knife makers. I know I am at work, but hey its been sittin in this dam fridge of my cubicle since our cinco de mayo party. :p
