new SOCOM Elite manual action

Someone on the internet said that the SOCOM Elite manual action is limited to 500 pieces from Microtech and that the blade design will change with the next batch.

Are they limited to about 500 pieces?
What is the difference between the anopeen finish and the stone washed finish?
Will Microtech change the blade design?

I havent heard that, but it doesnt mean its not true. A great place to ask is www.microholics.com

I believe anopeen is bead blast on top of stonewashed, and stonewashed is....well.....stonewashed.

I seem to recall something about the Anopeen finish being discontinued after the first batch due to the expense of producing knives with that finish...

Well, my SOCOM Elite box says: "Anopeen blade" and it's serial number is 0571, produced 6/2000. So, I dunno about the rumors...

What you heard is true. MT is no longer going to offer the Anopeen finish. Anopeen is stonewash with a light bead blast over it. There were about 500 Anopeen SOCOM Elites made. The blade design is also changing some. Haven't seen the new design yet so can't tell you much about it. Anopeen SOCOM Elites are still available at most MT dealers but won't be available forever.

Forgot to add that future MT knives will be offered in beadblast, stonewash, or Black Ti with a slight upcharge for the Black Ti.
