I think this is the right forum, I hit this buck last night and I barely got my truck home.

I thought the tire was going to pop from the fender being bent in so far, thank god we were not hurt.

Hope the buck didn't suffer to much, I was going 55mph, didn't even have time to brake.

When I was driving I was thinking about buying a buck knife then I
Just saw antlers and the deer was right there, boom. Got to call insurance agent and get them out here to look before I try to bend the fender to get it fixed.

I hit a deer in the fall of 1972 driving a 1966 Mustang. Buckled the hood and put the radiator right into the fan. Happened quick, never even saw it coming. I was a college student with little cash. Picked up a hood from the junkyard and painted it with a paint roller, looked like crap. A little angle iron for a frame and a recored radiatior and I was back on the road. The biggest danger in small cars is undercutting the deer and coming thru your windshield.

Forum tie in....
Fortunately I was pocket carrying a Buck Hoodlum way back then and was able to use it to cut my way free of the wreckage and butcher up what was left of the deer for dinner that night....... :D

I have hit and killed 7 of them with a big truck. You would be surprised the damage they do even to a semi. If you hit it at 55 mph it is most likely and hopefully dead. I always check. The last one I killed was a head shot off the end of the bumper on a Freightliner. Didn't do much damage to him and he was right tasty.

I hit an 8 point buck with a '68 Ford pickup almost 20 years ago. It bruised the meat up too much to eat and put a dent about the size of a snuff can on the front of the hood of the truck. They don't make trucks like that anymore.

Damn right. Love the styling of the new trucks these days from dodge, Chevy, and ford but the bodies are not nearly as tough a they used to be. Was so upset when I just easily rested the drivers door of my 07 dodge ram against another cars mirror while getting in the truck one day. Got home and noticed a sharp dent in the door, thought to myself "what the hell is the body of this truck made out of, aluminum foil". Could not believe how easily it dented

So, you're the person who rests your door against another car? The only problem is the dent wasn't near about big enough. Good for you.

Maybe a buck knife could've helped prevent you from touching someone else's car *forum tie in? Lol*

Got the adjuster for the insurance out here, $2,580.00 in damage, was told there may be more when the take it apart.

Guys this thread has had a good run , since it is barely knife oriented lets let it die a natural death an disappear into the back pages.....
