I finally got myself a true handmade knife. I have wanted a Phantom for a few years now, but alway bought something else (Microtechs, etc!). Well, last week I decided to email Elishewitz Knives about a waiting period. Much to my surprise, I found out, from his Wife Valerie, Alan was in the process of making exactly what I wanted (it was going to go with him to the ECCKS). Well, the knife arrived yesterday! This knife is solid as a rock! What a feel (even better than my Sebenza--which is excellent)! Very good workmanship. The edge bevel, while sharp, is a tad rough at the tip but nothing I would send it back for. Mine doesn't have a sharpened false edge, which is OK with me because I feel the tip would be weakend by it anyway.

Overall, an excellent knife! Now I fear it is the first of many real custom knives to follow!

Welcome to the "group"! It always makes me happy when someone else discovers the joy of getting precisely what they want, from the maker's hands to their own. Well, it makes me feel that much less like a sole loon anyway.

JC, Very handsome knife! Welcome to custom knife collecting. I am not sure if you should consider this as joining a club, or falling down a dangerous and slippery slope. These knives CUT. You will start to bleed Money. The only cure (and it is only momentary, believe me), is to buy Another custom knife. That helps. Sometimes.

A flat ceramic file like Spyderco makes will quickly smooth out any rough stuff at the tip of the knife. You have just got to use a knife like that to truly enjoy it. Congratulations!
