Ya got a Bhakta too. Very nice one it looks like.

If you need that handle checkered, I know a guy that knows a guy.

Welcome to the club. I'm wearing mine as we speak, well I always wear mine so I guess that would make sense.

Welcome to the club. It's a Bhakta, and like Bawanna said, its a beauty. Congrats.

Looks a lot like my IBBBs. The clip looks more like my heavier first one than the lighter one Philllll gave me. Personally the pommel on yours is the shape I like, and the same as both of mine. I prefer the squared off pommel with just that much metal showing over the curved pommels with more metal to them. Are those handle slabs wood or horn? They look like horn, but one of mine is wood that looks like horn in pictures.

Yes indeed, Handy little blades is extremely accurate, perfect for so many tasks. Love mine and its Pugs Pants and Bawanna checks. Congrats on yours bet you are going to love it even more after you have had it in hand a while.

Scara- the handles are horn. She's a beauty:) At some point, it's going to get some checkering:)

I've considered having the same done, but they've worked fine for me so far. Though to tell the truth, my knives get very little actual use. The one knife is use more than any other is the little folder in my pocket because most of what I need done by a knife needs a thinner blade. You know, opening envelopes, packages and such. I did once dig up stones from an area that was going to be tilled once, but I did that with a rough and tumble knife that isn't particularly good looking but durable. Other than that, my knives do get to destroy cardboard boxes from time to time, but very little in terms of practical use. And my new Hasiya (yes ndoghouse I ended up getting one) will probably never be used to harvest grains.

When it comes to frequent use, the smaller or more common household knives are usually the winners.

I have a serrated kitchen knife that gets more use than all my HI blades put together: cutting onions, bread, meat, etc.

I used to use a small, two-blade Swiss army folder for most small jobs, such as scraping small amounts of paint or putty from a window, applying epoxy to a crack, etc. That knife has been replaced by an oversized karda that came with a vintage WWII khukuri.

Lately I have become partial to knives with full-sized handles and short, thick blades, such as the mini-AK bowie (not so much the micro version, as the handle on that one is a bit small for my taste). You can do almost everything with these knives (except serious chopping), including self-defense.

For anyone who thinks that you need a long blade for self-defense, consider the Karambit.

First one is by Dil Kami, second one is a folder by Fox Knives:

I should add that the HI version by Dil is much more robust. However, I also like the looks of the Fox version.

As it so happens, I own a karambit now. Made in Indonesia of Damascus steel even. It was a gift from my mentor on knife fighting. I'd post a picture, but as I've mentioned before I don't own a camera, and my laptop and phone cameras are pretty lousy. Although...

The sheath is homemade from the finest cardboard and duct tape, with a bit of electrical wire as a spacer and to prevent an accidental slice-through. I made it myself. Time to go put that in the recent additions thread.
