Hi, I just acquired a very heavy knife with USAF on one side of 3" blade, 8C on the other side. Heavy welded, cylindrical handle with hole into the rounded end... What is this? WW2?

Without pictures, who knows?
Use Imgur, put some pictures of it in this thread.....

How do I post a picture of it with imugur?
As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. I use Imgur, but there are others. Once you have uploaded a picture to the hosting site, copy the web address of the picture. Note: picture web addresses must end in .jpg or .gif

Then go to your post and click the image tool on the toolbar next to the smiley tool. Click the link icon in the popup. (Looks like a chain.) Paste the picture address into the window. Then click the INSERT button.

Is it one of these?

If it is, it's an Air Force "canopy knife", a tool for a pilot to break their way out of a jets canopy. They have a hole in the end of the handle/pommel for a retaining pin with a ring on the end to connect to the inside of a cockpit by a cable. The knife was held in place connected to the canopy by a special bracket.
