When I'm wearing blue jeans I EDC a 710 McHenry & Williams and really dig that knife. I've been looking for something a little shorter and a little lighter to carry when not in jeans. I had never considered the 527 until someone mentioned it recently in another thread. I was going to get a mini-grip but prefer a slightly longer handle. The 527 should be about perfect I think.

Presidio family is my favorite line from Benchmade :) I have both the 525 and 527. I like the stone washed blade on the 527 and the lighter weight but carry my 525 more because the scales have a noticeably thinner profile.

Interesting about the scales. I generally don't like aluminum scales. I wanted the lightweight for office carry. This is my first Presidio but I have to say the handle looks super comfortable.

Looks like a winner to me! I think benchmade really does a good job at making an elegant working tool.

I had honestly never even given this knife a thought. However after looking at a couple of reviews; I am pretty pumped!

Well until bluemetalchurch gets some pictures up I'll submit some of my own Mini-Presidio porn. Not enough of it on these forums :D

The Mini Grip is my favorite BM, but when I got my ultra mini presidio, and held it in hand, I immediately thought it is probably the most comfortable folder I've ever held...
I don't know why they don't get more attention.

I'd like to see some pictures when you get it!

Sure thing!

Can you share why the presidio family is your favorite?

I sold a mini grip and regret it for sure. The only reason I bought the mini presidio over the mini grip is because of the longer handle.

Its the ergos...the mini grip is too rounded and bulbous whereas the mini presidio has just enough angles. It is also regular thickness but not as wide feeling as many folders in the same size with a little bit of extra length for the pinkie.

Why don't you choose 556?It is better in steel...

Ergonomics. The 527 has a longer handle. I also don't mind 440c. I don't have much experience with it yet but I am interested to see how it works out.

I would say the Mini Presidio in particular. Its compact, built like a tank and probably one of the most comfortable folders I've ever held. It feels solid in my hand compared to my 556 which feels a little lost.

I still prefer the 525 over the 527 though. I think the biggest complaint with the 525 was the aluminum scales which are almost like cheese graters in both directions. I adjusted the clip so it barely touches the scale to save my pockets. I had a little tear in my eye when they disco'd this model after being in production for several years. I feel like they should have given it some machined G10 scales similar in shape to the CF ones that came on the Gold class version. I feel IMO this would have solved the biggest complained with the 525 and it could have been a great knife for Benchmade. Maybe they will bring it back in full glory with new scales :D

The 527 Presidio seems to be a more affordable version which has less aggressive scales that are nice enough but I'm not huge on plastic and I think they are a little chunky. The 525 scales were thinner and more contoured. I also slightly prefer the 525 blade shape as the 527 tip is a little thin.

Thanks for your thought man. I wanted the 527 for office carry.
