What do you guys think? I wasn't able to find out a lot about the maker but I could see it's a quality knife.

Knife by Chris Owen. marked #160. Blade is 4-7/8" and shows differential heat treating.

Let me re-ask, what do you guys know about Owens as a maker and his work? Is his Damascus consistently one type?
Any background or comments appreciated.

Chris is a really nice guy, lives close to Moberly about 100 miles north of me. He's a machinist and makes some of the smoothest folders I've ever handled. He learned about knife making from Corbin Newcome and Ron Duncan both from Moberly. Chris makes his own damascus and is in the process of teaching his son the art of knifemaking/bladesmithing. I don't know how long he's been making knives but its been at least 10 yrs. Chris also has one of the coolest shops I've ever been in. He also has had some knives sold on Blade Gallery, so you might check there to see more about what he's made in the past.

The Owens are good makers. I haven't seen much from them but I liked what I saw. Your knife is an older one I'd imagine. I saw some in Bladegallery which reminded me ALOT of Don Hanson knives. Can't go wrong there.

You can get a short bio in bladegallery.

Chris and his son I believe (Dakota) make some really fine pieces.

Folks are right. Chris's son hand me a folder one time that was next to none.

thanks Adam for posting that link. saved me from reposting. I still have all of those knives. All his knives are also extremely sharp. His damascus chute is the only one of that type I have and his wire inlay is great. The folder is not a smooth as some but for the price is a very good knife and great value. I think I got all of his knives via him from EBay over a period of times. I just have not spent time looking in EBay for awhile because much of what is posted is not what I look for but depending upon the knife, I would not have any problem getting something else that Chris does.

This bad boy came in the mail today. Fantastic knife. I need to snap some shots of the top and bottom of the handle. The curvature is a perfect fit to my hand.
I found a Murray White thread from his 60th birthday where he received an ebony handled Chris Owen knife.

Mr. White said the Damascus was 1095/203e on his knife. Is this Chris Owens standard Damascus? My knife is very, very sharp. I suppose the steel type doesn't really matter but I would like to know. I have to be honest and tell you guys this knife has found it's forever home!!

All three knives made by Chris that I own are 1095/203e so I will assume this is his standard Damascus. All his knives are extremely sharp and well made. I am sure you will always enjoy his knife.
