Hello
I am a newbie in this forum.
I live in South Korea.

I just bought a buck 112 for my travel.

I will be carrying this knife to every travel I go. I will remember the moments with it and If I don't lose it, and if I have a son in the future, I will give to my son.
Brass gets tiny scratches easily. I will polish them with PIKAL for a while.
It was very sharp out of the box. Nice job Buck for sharpening.
but I didn't like the grind marks left on the bevel.( if you buy a 110 or 112, and take a close look at the bevel, there's grind marks)
so, I want to get rid of those marks and sharpen them even sharper.

I used Japanese Water Stones. 1000grits and 4000grits. for the Stainless steel, 4000grit for final finish is enough in my opinion.
after sharpening, I used my leather strop with Grey compound.
It was mirror finish after 4000grit stone. but I wanted to do the final touch.

buck 112 is great knife for most of task.
I also have custom buck 110 with S30V and Walnut handle.
I will post it later.
I did unboxing video for both of them. please go check them out : )

Welcome to BF and the Buck forum. That is a beautiful knife... by "grind marks on bevel," are you referring to Buck's "satin finish" on their blades? It's not shiny like a Swiss Army knife, but I've grown to like it. In the right light, the satin finish is actually quite colorful. I agree, a 3" knife can handle most jobs. I hope you share more of your Buck knives in the future.

Thank you for welcoming. What i meant by grind marks is not the Satin Finish. I mean, when you get the new knife. the bevel has small thin lines from factory grinder. the blade has also has it but it is called satin finish, or brushed finish. but on the bevel, I don't like it. It looks like unfinished to me. So I sharp them to mirror finish.

I will upload my other buck knives in the future. : )

Welcome again,

Yes, Buck grinds the final edge with a toothy finish. Not mirror polish. It is a time saving function no doubt, but they also feel that the average first time knife buyer will have a sharp edge longer with that type of factory sharpening. By my observation all people who are interested in knives sharpen them to their personal liking no matter what that edge is. I use one angle on large knives and one angle on all others. Each is sharpened with their own tools to make those edges. Sharpening is a discussion that can go on and on. That is why there is a special forum just for that.
