:jerkit:Hello,

I'm am having the hardest time deciding on my next puchase. Where I live the closest knife store that would carry what I'm looking for is three hours drive so I have to order knives based on pictures and spec sheets. I have been going back and forth the past month between BM Kulgera, Hk Axis, HK Nitrous Blitz.

I only have a BM 740, Endura Zdp-189 TKrien flatgrind, Boker M-Type. I like the bigger folders.

I don't have an assisted opener, a serrated blade, or an Axis lock. So that's want I'm looking for next, but cant seem to find a knife that has all three.

Does anyone have all these knives? .The one thing keeping me from ordering the HK Axis is the weight. It weighs twice what the Nitrous blitz weighs. The Kulgera is pricy, but if I heard some good reviews from fellow members I may take the plunge.

Thanks, In advance. Any opinions on these three knives from members that own them would be appreciated.

I don't own any of those but I have played with all of them except for the Kulgera. Unless you are cutting alot of fibrous materials on a daily basis, serrations will only get in your way and make sharpening harder. If you want serrations, get a fully serrated blade instead of partialy, that way you aren't compromising. The HK's(which one?) are a little heavy but they aren't too bad and they feel like a tanks. I am not a fan of the Stryker series. The handle is comfortable but the AO feels odd to me (I like Kershaws the best) and I don't like the blade shapes, the knife is also pretty light and it just feels cheap although YMMV. I like the way the Kulgera looks for a gentlmens knife, but you seem to like the tactical style knives. While it will still do everything the others will, it may not be as strong and it might be harder to use because it looks so good. If it is going to be a daily user, I would pick something from the HK line with a plain edge drop point blade. If you want a new knife just because, then the Kulgera could be a good choice as it would be one-of-a-kind. Just my opinions though.

Just realised you meant the HK Nitrous and not the Stryker series, please forget what I said about the Strykers, the HK Nitrous looks pretty good but I have never seen one in person.

between BM Kulgera, Hk Axis, HK Nitrous Blitz...

I have all three. Good choices.
I prefer the BM 930 Kulgera hands down of those three..
About the same size as the Blitz, but half the weight.

JMHO! -Ron

Clarify please,

Kulgera, 3.00 oz
HK Snody drop point model 14205, 3.08 oz
HK Snody modified drop point model 14210 4.96 oz (I'll go ahead and check this one off the list)
Nitrous Blitz 2.70 oz

Which knife feels half the size? They are all so close in weight accept for the modified point Snody.

Is the fit and finish of the Kulgera worth justyfying the extra 35.00 bucks over the HK Snody drop point? I don't have a 154cm blade so that's whats got me tempted to get a Snody.

I wish there was a good knife store close by....

Thanks

My mistake K12;
I was referring to the BM Nitrous Blitz 14460 @ 6.4 oz.

Anyway, as BJE mentioned I prefer the plain edge drop point
over the serrations unless you work in an environment yhat requires it.

154CM and S30V are both excellent.

The Kulgera is very nice looking, actually stronger than it looks.

Of those the 930 is REAL NICE! You can not go wrong with an Osborne design. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

The Kulgera is by far the best choice, in my honest opinion.

If you're going to by an HK, I say go buy an MP5. ;)

Thanks for all the imput.

I've shortened the list to only Axis folders. No one said much about the HK Nitrous. The Hk Snody looks nice, but seems a little weighty for a 3.4 inch blade (thick Tall blade). My 740 is bigger and lighter.

So again any help would be great. I'm buying based on pics, specs, and imput from BladeForums members. Will be purchasing Monday or Tuesday.

New List.

1. BM 710, Price is good, but I've heard people complaining about the thumb stubs ( new knife maybe ).
2. BM 943, Great looking knife
3. Kulgera, Something different.

Knives are all similar.

If you could only buy one for the next 6 months, which would it be?

thanks for taking time to post, I'm getting there.

Michael

On that new list, I revise my opinion to the BM710D2, arguably the benchmark for folding knives (excluding, maybe, the Spyderco Military...). Axis lock, excellent aesthetics, wait for the Benchmade Maniacs to start posting here about the awesome 710. All kidding aside, it's an excellent knife.
