Today I finished making my second knife from scratch, a lockback folder with O1 steel blade, stabilized maple burl scales, and brass liners/hardware. I made it as a gift for my father, and he helped by polishing the blade (all by hand until the final buff... quite a bit of work). The blade has a 5" radius hollow grind. I finished the handle with a base coat of danish oil, buffed until shiny, applied a few coats of Waterlox original, buffed again, then buffed on some carnauba wax. The blade has a few coats of sweetshooter oil to prevent rust. Here are some pictures:
And here is a shot of the handle after buffing with carnauba wax, just to show how awesomely shiny it is:

I bought the scale material from a member of this forum, Burl Source. A bit expensive, but I think the results are worth it
