Well...sorta... at my birthday party there was this ice cream cake that came with a block of dry ice. So I took my White Wolf Pocket Pro and sandwiched it between two pieces of ice for an hour. I would like to know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Is the blade going to chip like crazy now or did I actually make it stronger?

You certainly didnt hurt it, but Cryo is the wrong word there. Freeze treated is a better word. Cryo is done in liquid Nitrogen and is -300 far or so. Dry Ice is -109 deg or so. Some steels respond better than others to dry ice or LN. I have had fair luck with dry ice but as soon as I was able to I went to LN. If you use dry ice it is best to powder it and bury the blade in it and leave it till the dry ice is gone, the longer the better.

If you break the ice into small pieces and put it in acetone or rubbing alcohol, you get better distribution with only a few degrees difference. I'm not even going to mess with freeze or cryo until I can get a dewar... Anyone have one for trade?
