I am on my third Strider in about a year. First 2 were of excellant build quality with 0 quality issues everyone talks about or at least you hear about. My current Strider is the SMF drop point. I have to tell ya I have big folders, over built folders etc. etc. But I have never had a folder put together like this one. My next is going to be an RCC and thats it. I wasn't going to buy another knife after this one this year as I promised but the RCC will be it for a good long while. I now understand why the cost is what it is. Whether you like them or not, they build a helluva knife. keepem sharp

The SMF is a hell of a knife.
To say that a Strider is over built is an understatement. They are built to be abused.
I made the switch to Strider about 4 months ago. The decision as to what rides in my pocket every day has become a bit easier, the hard part is do I carry my SnG or my SMF.

If I'm going camping, hunting then Strider is hard to beat. There knives are not going to let you down when you need them most. However the same can be said of EXTREMA RATIO. I would like to see a side by side comparison of Strider and Extrema Ratio test!

And I assume that you will agree that the rest of the world of knives have their place in civilian life.

Absolutely that is what makes the world go round. I am a nut for Emerson knives too. But after handling the Striders etc. Emerson can no longer say he makes the #1 hard use folders in the world. I am sure they are more popular than Strider as the price point is less. I have a couple of 7's an HD7 and a 12 along with a Blackbird. As much as I like the 7 series in particular they are in no way as heavy duty as the Strider. Build quality maybe so, just talking put together etc.

CRK makes a finer knife imho but not heavier duty to be abused or used hard.
I just think Striders are in a class of there own when it comes to using a heavy duty put together razor sharp knife. Keepem sharp

I'll join the ranks tomorrow. It definitely has it's place! I still trust my other folders very much so.
The odd thing that I started a thread on in the Busse forum is the pricing. I carry a custom Sebenza and ordered a Strider SnG. I'm also on the waiting list for a Hinderer XM-18. The Sebenza and the Strider are both 500+ and what I'd consider production knives. The Hinderer is sub 400...

I had Emerson, Strider and a Sebenza. Hinderer's are not for me, but they are very nice folders.
This Warren Thomas M2, is my cup of tea. I do not see myself getting another folder.
Tnx!

Longbow---I think you would like the knife. It's a unique Tanto. Google, SteelAddiction, and click on, Warren Thomas.
Report back!

Striders are great knives if you ask me. It's going to be awhile before I get one because I have so many on the list that I want and uber-toughness isn't my top priority at the moment. For now, my xm-18 is sufficient for that niche. I don't blame you for feeling that way towards Striders. Regardless of how one feels about the maker, they are great tools.

I have 3 Striders and a PT on the way. I just bought a RCC and I love it as well as my two SnG's. I love Emerson's as well having 3 of them as well. But honestly, Striders are my #1 without a doubt. Striders and the fellas at Strider are first class.

Holy crap Lycosa! That knife is schweeet! Is that a carbide edge on the back side? My son carries one if his Beretta made tanto's with the carbon fiber blade and VG10 steel laminated to it. He beats his knives in his work and it has stood up great. Very nice eye candy indeed. keepem sharp

Sounds like you have maybe found the one for you! I have a couple of Striders, both are AR's, and I can definately say that these knives are heavy duty to the max. I think we are a lot alike longbow when it comes to knives, heavy duty and damn the weight! Since equipping my AR with a deep carry clip, that allows the knife to go entirely into my pocket, I have really enjoyed carrying it.
