hey everyone....i was told from the canadian community to come here and ask this....i have a knife from the Nepal...and the site itself claimed the knife to be the un-breakable knife....they said its made to hack wood and cut through grass...does this mean that if i swing this as fast as humanly possible to a tree, the only damage i'll see is the ricochet coming to my face or eyes? will the blade remain intact without any bends? thank you

Edit: is there some way of sharpening these?

You would really need to say which model of kukri it is, or at least give a description of its dimensions, weight etc., before anyone could comment on its capabilities.
Yes, there are several techniques of sharpening.

these are the pics. I have asked for clearer ones in the Canadian Forum, shown face-on, with better lighting and no flash.

and to LohGong, I would seriously urge to to read this thread before attacking trees with all your might!

The 'richochet' could sever flesh to the bone!

It might be tempered but it a kukri for tourists, so probably best only used for splitting light kindling & looking at.

Kukris in Nepal are used to cut saplings & small trees & most any other job.. The villergers use axes on the bigger stuff. The village kami make them & sell them much cheaper than any kukri.

yeah....i think its a tourist one =/ my dad's customer gave it to him...if i were to use it, i would probably cut through plants...instead of hacking trees...or people...LOL jk :)

Looks a bit small to be a good tree-chopper, but i suspect, even without a good heat treat, it would do fine on saplings as long as you kept the blade sharp. A hunk of steel is a hunk of steel. The goo dnews re: sharpening, is the easiest part of the blade to sharpen in the area of the sweet spot (deep belly of the blade), and is also the part you'll use most.

Of course, you could always get the real deal on the main HI forum here <cough>Deal of the Day<cough>

LOL are you teasing me =P unfortunately, my dad has no interest in knives...so...he couldn't care less lol
