My girlfriend got me a 105 for christmas and though I havent had a chance to use it yet, I'm sure I wont be let down. It looks very well made, though the handle is a little bit lighter than I was expecting. I was wondering if they made a leg strap or something to attach it to my boot with. I was also wondering if it holds up well if it gets wet, do you need to do anything special to take care of it, and does salt water make any difference? I'd like to be able to use it on my boat. I'd appreciate any help with this.

Water won't hurt it. Salt water won't hurt it. I can't imagine taking a boat out without a Buck of some kind close by, but then I carry 2 or 3 with me all the time. Your biggest worry about the 105 will be losing it! Building a sheath to attach to a boot shouldn't be a problem, but I don't know of anything commercially made, it would probably have to be custom made.

When I was young and went camping most weekends, I carried a 102 all the time on my belt. I took a piece of rawhide and laced it through the bottom of the sheath and tied it around my pant leg. This added the needed stability. If you want something for your boot, I believe they make marine sheaths that attach to the lower leg that you may be able modify for you 105.
