I just received my new Alaskan guide 110. It is truely a work of art. it is just as if I ordered a knife from the buck Custom Shoppe.
The black finish on the blade is very cool. It is more like a bluing in color and texture than a coating, which I find very visually appealing. It has a S30V blade, heat treated my Bos! I didn't know that when i ordered, what a bonus!
The rosewood laminate handles are gorgeous. Mine have a nice reddish tint. To cap it all off, the sheath is a really nice, high quality Brown leather! I was expecting black, so i am delighted. it matches the knife perfectly.
Good job, whoever put this work of art together, design and manufacturing both.
To those of you who have not ordered one yet, do it now. You will not be disappointed.
 
I second rooikat's sentiments, the Cabella 110 is magnificent. Upon opening the blade and brass bolsters shined resplendently. The overall design, purposeful yet refined. The Cabella 110 even smells good.

that's funny. I admit I've smelled my knives on ocassion. Maybe it's my way of telling how much Tuf Glide is in it or something? :)

But licking is out of the question.

Your right about that :D Just wait until you cut with it, that bad boy is scary sharp :eek:

Okay. I know that I've just bad-mouthed the idea of modernizing the 110 in another thread, but, but---that doesn't apply to the blade steel. I've got 110s in damascus and BG-42, and I can't wait for one in s30v!! If s30v is indeed developed from the get-go as a cutlery steel, let's demonstrate outside of PCKS with pitchforks and torches until they offer it as an option.
 
From the pictures on the Cabales website, there appears to be an emblem on the blade, what is it???

I am THIS close to ordering one myself, are they as great as you all say????

It didn't set forth with the idea of smelling the knife, it just happened to emit a strong yet pleasant bouquet(sp?). Similar to the smell of a new car. Now if there are "new car smell" air fresheners, the idea of a "new knife smell" freshener isn't a too abstract idea eh?

Don't they have rosewood scales??? It's probably the rosewood that smells so good!

Go it in the mail today.....SAWEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks awesome and the out-of-box edge is NASTY!

This would make a great EDC, even the sheath is cool!

Ahhhh.., another addict got his fix today :D They are nice but aren't they all :D I keep looking at that asian buff horn, and the urge is getting stronger!

Yeah me to! but this close to XMASS, the flesh is willing but the wallet is weak!
