But..... who uses one every day? Or quite often?
And for what?

Thanks.

I like your knife. The engraving is attractive...wondering where you had it done...?
The Police is a nice model. Carries slim and is very capable.

Windy Ridge Designs..

in Reno.
But he's swamped and going to close the shop for a few months to expand.

Damn that's nice. I have a model from 2000 but I don't carry it anymore. Just moved on to other things. It was my first modern folder and a gift for my wife so I will always have it. If mine look like yours I would probably carry it more.

I have a coworker that carries a full serrated one daily. Has for years. Gets used for anything and everything at work.

Also gets used quite a bit at home as they own a small ranch raising rodeo bulls.

Been carrying mine now for over 25 years. I use it for many things, its a nice light knife easy to clean. It was my companion when I was in hospital for two months back in 2001 and peeled a lot of fruit while I was there.

I have an aluminium handled Police that I have been carrying for almost 20 years.

The police was the first spyderco I got and the first high end knife I got.I still switch between the police and the pm2 often.I love the police because it is so thin! The police disappears in the pocket better than the pm2 in my opinion.

The all steel Police was the first higher folder I bought as well, about 25 years ago or more. I still really like it and as the OP said, it does look mean. I don't carry it that much because like my Military, it's tip down only . Despite my quibble with tip down only carry ,those were the days when Spydercos were relatively affordable. Recent Spyderco releases are in the 300- 400 dollar range in Canada which is more than I care to pay.

I have a G10 Police 3 that I carry almost every day!

I also have the stainless steel SE version which I purchased decades ago when it was first released. I stopped carrying it years ago because I found the steel handle and absence of 50/50 choil too slippery. I jumped on the Police 3 G-10 in PE when it was released and found it to be a big improvement. The Police has always been a bit too long for my EDC needs, so now days I use it mostly for food prep around camp.

I often carry either the stainless Police, or the Police 3. Both are outstanding knives I think, and they see a lot of use. They are my go-to knives for work around the yard, if I need to trim back plants in the fish pond, use them in the garden, take down cardboard, anything everything.

Big fan of the Spydie Police.

Beautiful and very classy!

Reminds me of Nimschke style engraving.

I dont like you anymore; I just bought a G10 Police and passed on the SS handled Police, because I prefer the non-slip G10 over SS but now I have to get the SS and have it engraved!!

For me, the Police is the archetype of the Spyderco design ethos- Anyone serious about Spyderco should strongly consider having one in their collection.
I own 3- a pair of stainless handled full serrated models (One leftie, one rightie) and this beast which is my go-to large folder for a long time.

This model is (essentially) a companion piece to the Civilian in build- it's a single liner, G10, ATS-55 full flat grind dating from about 1999- and it's a fearsome cutter of all things woven or fibrous, as well as being very handy for all sorts of other uses ;)

There is a good engraver on this forum. David Martin's wife does beautiful work like that, and more.

IIRC, the Police is longer, and the blade is shaped differently - more pointy, and more slender profile.

Making me wish for another all stainless knife to have engraved.

Also (more so in the current Endura 4)- the Police's blade is straighter for more of it's profile and much finer at the tip.
Additionally, the rearmost portion of the handle of the Police is 'pointy' where as the on Endura it's more 'rounded'- The Police's pointy bum pokes out of your hand in a normal grip open or closed, meaning it'd make a useful non-lethal impact tool for those with the training to make that work.

I have an older tip down only Police SS with SpyderEdge. Got it for like $30. I really like it, I want to try a G10 plain edge model.

just got this in the mail today. lady who sold it to me on ebay said it belonged to her husband who carried it for many years and said it was his favorite. sadly she said he passed away 10 weeks ago. I almost didn't get it because of the serrations but so far I'm enjoying it. I feel bad for the wife she told me it was hard letting it go. I told her I would hold onto it for some time and if I did ever sell it would go to someone who will care for it.
